    What a lovely hotel.welcoming staff, comfortable beds in large clean quiet rooms. Good breakfast.For us the most outstanding aspect was Alex who was on duty in the morning and told us so much about the history of the hotel and encouraged us to see the beautiful little chapel attached to the hotel.Don’t be put off by the built up area, once you are inside the hotel it is peaceful and charming. A quick walk behind the hotel takes you to see some old properties that give you a feeling of what the village used to be like.

    We stayed one night before driving to Brittany ferries Santander 15 minutes away. They arranged for us to park our full car in the courtyard so secure. We had 2 dogs, bed breakfast and parking for £70. Great value for money.The breakfast was good and had gluten free products for my husband. Tea served in bone china cups. They also arranged a late check out so we could watch the Queen funeral. The room was delightful. Lovely balcony, ceiling fan, deep bath and nice toiletries.Big thick towels. Comfy bed. Smart TV.The on-site chapel is beautiful. The small courtyard was well attended and you can eat breakfast outside.Friendly staff. This will be a regular hotel when travelling here by.Last but not least the local rose wine was delicious. Gracias

    Last minute overnight stay with my husband, daughter and dog before the Santander ferry to UK. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, we were told that there was a wedding and that there would be music til 1am but this was no problem, it sounded like a great party!The hotel grounds are beautiful and would be lovely to enjoy on a warm day, unfortunately for us it was raining. The hotel has some lovely features and is tastefully decorated in keeping with the old building but with a modern touch. Our room was extra clean, beds very comfortable and bathroom had everything we needed including toiletries. Breakfast was lovely, you could select sweet or savoury and this was all served by friendly staff. There is plenty of parking close by but as there was a wedding the hotel opened up their gates so we could park in the grounds incase we struggled to park close by, this was vey helpful. Oh Would definitely recommend and would stay again, thank you 😊

    Wonderful hotel. Room spacious and comfortable.     We decided not to stay in Santander, but to choose a place just a little further away, so we didn’t have to stay in a big city. Solares is far from a beautiful town, but that is not the point. It’s a very quick drive into Santander, and very well located to be able to branch out to the other places you’d like to visit in the region.We have been in so many big cities over the years, that we really wanted to avoid another one.The hotel itself is a converted small mansion, turned into a monastery, turned into a lovely place to stay. There is a courtyard in the front, that is perfect for sitting around when you want to relax. The breakfast, which came with our room, is simple but just right. No hot food, but good cereals, fresh meats and cheese, very good bread and other sweet pastries to eat. In addition, the coffee is excellent. There is a small room off the lobby that may have been a bar in a past life, where they make the coffee, and make modest alcoholic beverages available.The staff is minimal, but very accommodating. The room itself, I think we had the smallest one, was just fine. Relatively small, with a very nice and modern bathroom. We choose not to watch any television when we travel, But those who do want to watch will be disappointed that there was only a very small computer monitor in the room. But who comes to this gorgeous region to watch TV!?!Parking was easy to find in the lot just behind the hotel.So all in all, this place is strongly recommended for what it says it is, which is quite modest place, but elegant and done close to perfection.
