    Pretty good stay

    rating12 Sept 2025

We booked for two nights here for our honeymoon and it was a pretty good stay! We were slightly disappointed with the very tiny room size, it was hard to move around in. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. For a spa hotel, we were surprised to find the shower gel in the shower completely empty and no real toilet paper, only a container of tissues on the wall. I booked a Swedish massage and unfortunately it was the worst massage I have ever received. That being said, the hotel staff were lovely and polite and we really enjoyed visiting the area.

    Disappointing

    rating18 May 2024

This is a 4 star hotel because it has a spa but as a guest you can’t use the spa unless you pay another 45 Euros ( per hour). We were allocated a small room - which did have a bath 👍 but the room itself was not particularly clean and there was no where to put anything. The gentleman who checked us in seemed unimpressed that we were not wowed by the fact there was free WiFi ( a basic given even in a 2 star hotel). The staff in general seemed annoyed that there were guests present messing up their hotel but without the walkers and motorcyclists there would be no business outside of peak season. The most disappointing hotel of our walking week. Juan Major, Marketing at Hotel Spa Porto Cristo, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.Regarding the spa, we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience. The additional fee for spa access is intended to ensure that we can provide the highest quality experience and maintain the facilities. We regret that this was not communicated clearly. We also apologize for the condition of your room and the lack of space for your belongings. Cleanliness and comfort are top priorities for us, and we will address these issues with our housekeeping team to ensure improvements are made.We are disappointed to hear that our staff did not provide the warm welcome you deserved. Your comments will be shared with our team to remind them of the importance of excellent customer service.Thank you again for your feedback. It helps us to improve and ensure a better experience for future guests. We hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future.Best regards,Reception

    A great holiday experience

    rating05 Jul 2023

The bed was very comfortable the room was a decent size, the bathroom was very good, the hotel was ideally located and convenient for the village centre, restaurants and shopping and only a stone’s throw from the sandy beach. We went every evening and took a cup of coffee on to the open air roof garden, plus we had a great view from our room of the sea with the boats bobbing in the harbourThe hotel staff were very dour and uncommunicative No greetings or conversation whatsoever, it went also for the breakfast room staff.Breakfast was very limited but quite acceptable.Porte de la Selva is beautiful, where the predominant occupation is eating, and very good too. Water-sports are in abundance, the population is Catalan, and very reluctant to even speak Spanish plenty of French tourists no English at all in the 4 days we were there. We found it quite hard to make ourselves understood, but it all added to the charm of the place. We used to holiday at Porte de la Selva in the late seventies and early eighties and couldn’t believe how little it had changed, the same restaurants and shops, same layout and same beauty. The biggest change was the cost, the Porte is quite expensive these days, but the restaurants serve great fish and shell fish, we particularly liked the Restaurant Monterray the Turbot and Dover sole were exceptional. We will be going back and we will stay in the Porto CristoBrian & Wendy Mabbott July 2023

Press trip visit with Catalan Adventures

    rating01 Apr 2023

This hotel was one of my final stops during a press trip with Catalan Adventures in collaboration with The Scotsman newspaper. Overall, I had an excellent time at the establishment and was thoroughly impressed by the scenic location, the luxurious room I enjoyed (with a top-notch Jacuzzi) and other features like the refrigerated hotel-brand water bottle organised ahead of time pre my arrival. The initial reception, however, let down an otherwise excellent experience as the gentleman at the desk was not friendly and set a cold tone for the establishment. Other staff, however, later demonstrated the culture of warmth and politeness I had expected and I appreciated their efforts.

Functional hotel. Staff not welcoming. No where to sit outside. Room uninspiring Guests located close together despite being large hotel. El Port de la Selva is lovely: it would be great to have a view/ outlook to appreciate it. Could do better!!
