You will be punished by Holiday Inn if you are forced to cancel.

    rating24 Mar 2026

I had to cancel my booking for an unexpected health issue. The booking confirmation stated that I could cancel free of charge up to the planned day of arrival. Yet, they demanded that I pay a 'penalty' of 90% of the costs because I was forced to cancel three days in advance. Any attempt by me to explain the situation was simply ignored and I was immediately threatened with a debt collector if I didn't pay within a week. I will never book anything with Holiday Inn again. They are rude and greedy. Ronny B, at Holiday Inn Dresden - Am Zwinger by IHG, responded to this review Dear Andre S,We are very sorry that you had to cancel your booking at our hotel at short notice.Your account of the situation is inaccurate, and your accusations against our hotel are unjustified. You made your booking with us through a tour operator, who informed you of the booking conditions at the time of booking due to the special nature of the event. We simply adhered to the contractually agreed terms and charged the cancellation fees. There was no threat from a debt collection agency.I assure you once again that we deeply regret this situation, but we cannot identify any wrongdoing on our part.Sincerely, Ronny Brase | General Manager

Great location - breakfast was great.

    rating13 Mar 2026

I booked the most 'basic' room - I wish all rooms had a mini fridge and iron/ironing board. They should be included for a hotel like the Holiday Inn, so that was my only criticism of this hotel given the price. Location was ideal - very walkable to the city area, and one of the main train stations. Breakfast was really good - lots of options for all diets and tastes.

A convenient, modern, comfortable, good value hotel.

    rating29 Oct 2025

I was travelling as part of a large group for a three night stay. The hotel is well located being a 10 minute walk to the old town and a few minutes walk to the tram. My room was modern, clean and had all the amenities I needed. It was quiet and comfortable. The room designer was obviously keen on mood lighting! There were many light switches offering a variety of lighting combinations. I found the hotel generally very warm, a little too warm, but better than being cold. The breakfast was plentiful and there was good choice. The bar staff in the evening were very helpful and provided good service. The only cause of confusion for a number of our group was the payment of the bill. It appeared that the full amount of the room cost plus a deposit was charged on arrival. It then seemed as though we were being asked to pay again at the end. Apparently the initial payment was a reserved amount. I would normally expect to have a small deposit reserved at the start with final payment on departure. Our lack of German speaking ability didn't help. Overall a very convenient, comfortable, good value hotel. I would recommend and would stay here again.

Excellent value and good air conditioning!!

    rating31 Aug 2025

After over a week on the road in Germany, I have discovered that I really like staying in Western hotels. The lack of air-conditioning in Germany is inconvenient by western standards. I can tell you that the A/C in this room delivered! The room would get and stay plenty cold. Location: While, not right in the thick of things, it’s a short walk to many attractions like the palace orthe waterfront. There aren’t a lot of convenient stores or restaurants in the immediate proximity though. For the price point, this property is hard to beat. My queen room was small, but it was fine. The staff was just as pleasant and helpful as you could possibly ask for and the breakfast was really impressive. Definitely not your standard US Holiday Inn.The only thing I would take points off for at this hotel, is the bed. If you like a firm mattress, you might be fine if you like a soft mattress, you may struggle to sleep well.

    Always a sure choice

I have stayed here before a couple of years ago. It is a great place - walking distance from the palace, museums and so on, and really only 10 minutes stroll from the Postplatz. The rooms are big with high ceilings, the bar is open late, the breakfast is excellent. Don't be thinking this is too far from the historic center - it is not - this is where the discerning traveller stays. Also handy for the train station "Dresden Mitte"
