Much, much better than I thought it was going to be

    rating27 May 2026

My review in is two sections; the first is without taking into account how amazing the staff were when one of my fellow travellers had some serious health implications... Part 1) Taking a group of six men away for golf is never an easy task. The Waves Royal seemed to tick all the boxes but I was worried for the lack of golf reviews, and the lack of reviews from English guests. Some negative reviews also, leading up to our trip. There was no need for worry, the hotel location was fantastic and it's probably one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in in mainland Europe. That goes for the beach too; so clean. There was a great variaty of guests from all over Europe.Check in was super quick. The wristband key fobs were a first for me which made everything very easy. The rooms were small but perfectly adequate. Good shower, free safe, comfy pillows, and cleaned daily by friendly staff. The walls are thin so expect a bit of banging around during the night. English news channel as standard. Fresh, cold water is available throughout the hotel. Being golfers we filled up our bottles daily to take with us. We also hired a kettle for 10euros and got some coffee & milk from over the road. The food in the buffet was varied enough in my opinion and the smaller plates meant the food seemed fresher. The live cooking stations were great and food on the sushi night really was amazing! We all agreed that was the best night by far. The cafe & pool bar offered AI sandwiches which was fantastic, it meant we didn't have to make sandwiches at breakfast to take to the golf course; ice creams & cakes too. The drinks selction is very good for AI but you could pay for very premium drinks as well (we didn't bother). The measures are HUGE! The beer is Mahou.Golf:- 5x courses within 20 minutes drive and the 2 hotel courses just over the road. We didn't have any issues with the shuttle bus, our longest wait being 10 minutes. Courses all in great condition, some definitely more difficult than others - our favourites for the week were the 2 courses attached to the hotel.Waves Royal is large but somehow still quite intimate, it has plenty of daytime & night time entertainment and the location is great. The pools were cold but fine once you were in. The kids pool area was pretty cool and the few that were there seemed to be enjoying themselves. We walked the entire length of the beach one day and I don't think I saw one piece of rubbish. The sea is pretty rough so go careful. We were still able to have a swim. Shame the beach bar wasn't open but there plenty around - you could do a beach bar crawl quite easily. It look slike the final touches were being made to the beach bar for the 2026 season so it should be open by the time you read this. All in all, a super friendly hotel that caters for everyone. A great location and super clean. As a group of male golfers, we would definitely recomend a trip here. Also, I've recommended it to my friends with younger children too as the hotel seemed to cater for everybody. I'd also go there with my wife for a short break. Now the second part of my review focuses on how amazing the hotel staff were when one of my friends suffered heart & breathing issues on the beach after a fall near the sea edge. I had to rush for assistance and everybody was extremely concerned & helpful. When we got back to the beach the lifeguard had been called by another holidaymaker and he was sent to the nearest hospital. If you've ever been in a similar situation, you'll know how I was feeling at the time. I would like to thank every member of staff who helped me & all my group. Everyone who translated, everyone who explained what was happening & where he was, the reception staff who helped with taxis and the restaurant & bar staff who always checked on him & asked if he was ok. Special thanks to the guest service lady who was first on the scene with me. Without you I would have been 10x more stressed (I'm so sorry I can't remember your name). We caused a slight delay for the plane so apologies to anyone on our return flight. The main thing is we managed to get him home to his family and he's trying his hardest to recover in hospital as I type. Fingers crossed he's able to join us again at this hotel for more sun, sangria and golf. online experience, Owner at Iberostar Waves Royal Andalus, responded to this review Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing our hotel for your holiday.Your thoughtful comments confirm that we are on the right track with our numerous efforts and attention to detail. rating26 May 2026

This is NOT a 4 Star Service, Frist our room was right above Construction site where they where Jack hammering, drilling & making noise All day the full 7 days we where there. And they DO NOT tell you that you have to PAY for the use of the sunbeds! it goes on your bill at end of your holiday? online experience, Owner at Iberostar Waves Royal Andalus, responded to this review Dear David,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your stay at Iberostar Waves Royal Andalus. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not fully meet your expectations. Avoid, started noisy refurbishments with no prior warning

    rating17 May 2026

Terrible. Building work going on straight below our room, hamers & drills & banging all day. Many small birds in the restaurant & lobby area, pooing everywhere, big health hazard as they are flying over the open buffet. Our room was very noisy, due to the entertainment being downstairs. The golf transfers a joke, you literally dont know if, or when, they will turn up. Had to argue to get a kettle for room. Very limited food options in the evening if you are gluten free and some of the staff have been very rude to us - they dont lime the English. online experience, Owner at Iberostar Waves Royal Andalus, responded to this review Dear Guest, On behalf of the team, we would like to express our gratitude for sharing your review regarding your current stay. We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction, as our goal is to ensure that our guests enjoy their holiday experiences with us to the fullest and our staff are known for their attentive service. Great hotel let down by limited food options and slow transfers to golf course

    rating16 May 2026

Great food, spotless hotel, and rooms big enough to host a small wedding. Staff were lovely too — the kind who smile even when you ask where the other restaurants are… because despite the promises, only the main buffet was open. So much for “choice”. The golf transfer was another adventure. Let’s just say it made the slow play on the course look rapid. Solid 2/5 for that performance Overall: good stay, good food, good people — just not quite what was advertised online experience, Owner at Iberostar Waves Royal Andalus, responded to this review Dear guest,It has been a pleasure to serve you at our hotel, and we would like to thank you for your review. We will happily share your constructive feedback internally as we aim to meet the needs and wishes of all our guests. A little staycation

    rating13 Jan 2026

This hotel is very nice. It’s clean, modern and the staff are very helpful and friendly The food in the all inclusive restaurant is plentiful. Some hot dishes were cold though The staff in the restaurant are helpfulAnd very accommodating The only negative things I can say about this place, is that you have to pay 3 euros per day for use of the safe and 15 euros a day parking. Which, personally I think should be freeOther than that we had a nice smooth comfortable stay online experience, Owner at Iberostar Waves Royal Andalus, responded to this review Dear guest,Thank you for sharing this helpful review.
