    Holiday booked for our family

    rating28 Aug 2022

We have just got back from a week stay in Nerja we stupidly booked through an agency who booked with the above people what a huge mistake. We booked to stay in Capistrano village we know the area as this was our fourth visit and we were put up in San Juan Capistrano when challenged I got told I could be put anywhere. Of the four villages, we have an autistic daughter, which completely ruined our holiday we had no choice but too get the hourly bus or pay 10 euros for a taxi to town, as there was no flexibility being stuck so faraway from anywhere, this is hard with any children, also beware as We had to pay 30 euros for a pool pass when we arrived and when we checked out today as we had an early flight there was nobody there to get our 30 euros back so basically we have been robbed. I went down to reception yesterday as this was a concern for me but it’s closed all day on a Sunday so we couldn’t do anything. Also beware because you have to pay 3 euros per sunbed and 2 euros per parasol, I have posted our keys and pool pass with a note but still have not heard anything back, what a shame , Nerja is a wonderful place but be very cautious on booking with the above company. Never Again I am going to book direct from now on.

Beaituful Scenery but there are things you should know

    rating27 Jun 2022

Just back from 10 days in beautiful Nerja with my parents and my husband and children. We arrived after 2am to a closed reception and found our keys and a map to our apartments waiting for us stuck to the window. Unfortunately our taxi driver dropped us at reception and left, as we didnt realise that our apartments were nearly a 20 minute walk up a very, very steep hill ( thats 20 mons if you are able-bodied, arent pulling cases and know where you are going)... It was dark, we were tired, my parents have mobility issues and even my kids struggled with the hills and we'd to pull our cases The map provided wasn't to scale and totally confused us, we got lost many times, it was a nightmare. Google maps got us there eventually but it was almost 4am. We were staying in San Francisco area in san juan..We'd booked two apartments/villas: one for my parents and another for my family. Unfortunately the key to my parents apartments got jammed in the lock and they couldn't get in. My poor mother was crying at this stage. Thankfully we got into our apartment and my kids gave their beds to the grandparents and slept on the sofa for the night. It wasn't a good start. We had a lot of trouble with both doors throughout the holidays. Locks really need to be replaced or at least oiled. The hilly area of capistrano didn't really suit my parents with mobility issues tbh. After we got over all of that, we had a nice time. Apartments are typically spainish and a bit dated but grand. Had all the essentials. It is very pretty area, lovely scenery. Very quiet and relaxed. The gardens are beautifully kept. Kids loved the pool. And we regularly enjoyed La Para restaurant. The bus goes into Nerja on the hour. Taxi about €6 each way. I wouldn't bring parents back there, it is too steep but I may go back with the kids but I won't let the taxi leave us at reception again. I feel we should have been warned about thar.

Comfortable basic apartment with amazing views

    rating17 Apr 2022

I travelled to Nerja with my daughter (23 years old). The location is stunning. However, Capistrano Village is managed by lots of different agents, so collecting keys for your apartment could prove complicated and frustrating. Thankfully, we had an awesome taxi driver, who new the procedure, so helped us locate the correct agent once at Capistrano Village to collect our keys. Unfortunately, our agent (Guy P Away) was the only agent not working on Sunday. So our keys and directions were merely sellotaped to the shop door! Still, the taxi driver took control, and drove us to our apartment. It was about 15 minute walk from reception, up hill. The apartment was clean, and traditionally soanish. Quite basic, but so pretty! And what a magnificent view! We unpacked, and went out to explore. However, when we tried to get back in the door was jammed. We had to walk back to the reception to get help. This was extremely stressful, as Guy P Away were not there. All the other agents in the other shops tried there utmost to help us, calling the locksmith and trying to get hold of someone from our agency. A very stressful couple of hours then ensued because no one was answering! If no one is available for check in, they should not accept bookings for that day! If the other agents hadn't of been so helpful, and taken pity on us, I dont know where we would have ended up sleeping! After 2 hours, a locksmith from another agency helped us to get in to our apartment. It turns out the key was worn.Nerja is a stunning town to visit, and we will be returning. Capistrano Villages are very pretty. Just be prepared for the uphill walks!

    Not a quiet Nerja

    rating28 Aug 2019

El Capistrano Village. Would I go back? No. Great apartment, just like home from home, with a lovely view of the Mediterranean. In fact we did not eat out all week as we were happy staying at the apartment. Washing machine, cooker, great fridge freezer and the sun loungers on the balcony were a bonus. But the downside, not a cleaner in sight all week, getting woke up before 8am by a gardner who insisted on mowing the same piece of grass over and over with his petrol mower and when he was finished with his mower he used an annoying strimmer. Not impressed. Nerja itself was far too busy, the beach was a good walk downhill away and a bad walk back uphill. Two good supermarkets nearby but everything else was far too much of a walk. You really needed a car but the roads were manic with impatient drivers blowing their horns at every opportunity. Not the quiet Nerja I was led to believe and most definitely will not be returning.

    Lovely family holiday

    rating04 Aug 2017

Although the accommodation is rated 2star the service we received from the lovely Lorena before and during our stay was 5 star. She was so helpful and really wanted our holiday to be an enjoyable one.The accommodation itself was located in San Juan El Capistrano which is right up the mountain, you need to take a bus (one leaves directly outside the pool every hour) or a car to get to Nerja town centre. Our apartment was excellently equipped with air-conditioning, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, etc. It was also incredibly clean. It had a massive private garden and beautiful, well maintained grounds. The sheets and towels were changed once during our 2 week stay. The apartment is 2 star, do if you don't expect anything flash then you won't be disappointed. The pool area is gorgeous and again, very clean. It was nicest in the evening between 7-9 when most of the sunbathers had left. There were 4 different restaurants around the pool, which served the typical tourist food but was decent enough. We really enjoyed our stay, the pool being the highlight and would recommend this accommodation for budget travelers. Thanks again to Lorena for being so wonderful at her job.
