  Great if you have no mobility issues.

  Lovely setting right on the beachfront.Large well equipped apartment although a little dated.Comfortable beds. Shower over bath.Well equipped kitchen with oven , hob , washing machine , dishwasher and microwave. Lovely heated pool area , bar and gym and sauna.Not great if you have mobility issues as there are no ramps and lots of steps.Quiet area . Walk along the boardwalk to a few bars /restaurants around the marina..   Super hôtel with direct access to the beach.

  Our second visit to this hotel based on the lively sea front of the Costa del Sol. The hotel is situated in Calahonda close to bars and restaurants. But, situated in a quiet spot very close to the boardwalk that runs from Cabopino to Cala Mijas. Superb for pleasant walks. The hotel staff are really pleasant and helpful. Rooms and facilities are spotless and well equipped. The swimming pool and surrounding grounds are full of shrubs and water features. All in all one of our favourite locations.   Nothing to make this a resort,very poor

  There for Xmas and new year.Arrived 22nd ,shown apartment which we said was too dark so went to change,guy on reception said don't blame you!!found another apartment,then was told restaurant wasn't open,so couldn't get a coffee or even a bottle of water.Restaurant stayed shut for the whole two weeks.!!Only place to get food etc was a Lidl which was over bridge and motorway,not very convenient.The staff(one)was less than helpfull when asked about trips and activities,sangria and pialla making and same second week ,that was it.One time we had water from bar it was 6 euros opposed to 74 cent in Lidl.Broken couch?   Has security issue. Not for travelers at all. Stay away from the hotel!

  We would like to let you know what happen: We came back to the resort around 12-1am and found that at least two luggages were opened and searched. Besides, the drawers of the room on ground floor were also opened. It seems that the suspect ran away in hurry so that he or she did not have time to close the luggages and drawers. We were also afraid if the suspect(s) was still inside the rooms. Although no missing items were noted, we felt not secured and scary that night (fortunately we checked out next morning). One of the luggages has its key broken too.Hotel replied: “on the day of the incident, a couple of individuals trespassed into the resort and entered your apartment for a very short period of time (approximately one minute). Please accept my sincere apologies, both personally and on behalf of the company. I truly hope that this unfortunate event did not completely spoil your holiday experience.”The hotel responded to my questions on security issues: “We have not contacted the police, as without a formal report they are unfortunately unable to take action. There have been no security issues in the complex, although we acknowledge that on this particular day the security measures did not work as they should have.”Upon a number of emails, they reiterated “to proved us two complimentary nights during low season as compensation.” “Unfortunately, we are unable to issue a refund due to company policy.” “I truly understand your situation and I’m very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.” “Unfortunately, due to company policy, I am not able to process a refund for the two hotel nights. However, as previously mentioned, I would be happy to offer you those two nights free of charge for a future stay during the low season.”They did not provide any solution including compensation on the broken luggage. After the bad experience, do they expect us to stay with the hotel again?? The offer of free nights is totally unrealistic! Besides I found it the worst hotel I have ever stayed for decades: No daily collection of rubbish including food waste;No change of towels upon request unless we pay the charge;No housekeeping during our 5 nights stay;The furnitures and decor are dated;The stair is about to fall as it is very old and fragile; also the carpet covering it was very dirty and stained;Only 30ml each of shampoo and shower gel for each rooms for 2 person were provided for 5 nights without refill. No other toiletries, teabags, coffee machine, bottle water are provided (to let other travelers know so you had to prepare for yourselves);No dryer provided, we need to hang out the clothes outside;Restaurant is always closed;No security, all strangers can easily go inside the resort;No services at all… Aitana Urquia, Owner at Macdonald Leila Playa Resort, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your experience with us.   It was a very pleasant stay. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. Good access to cafes and restaurants as well as a supermarket.
