    Just returned from a week’s break away with my mam (70s). This self-catering resort was ideal for us. Spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean apartment. Best bonus is the outdoor solarium terrace with sun loungers, dining, and BBQ option. Provision of pool towels, dishwasher, and additional cleaning items (variety of detergents), helped also. The reception staff are so friendly professional, and approachable for anything you need. The onsite shop has basics and is not overly expensive (and the owner Lisa is a character!) Lidl is not too far, about 20min walk other side, over the motorway. There are a few little restaurants/bars locally, ideal for a quiet holiday. The onsite bar Kai is a great spot for lovely local beers/wines etc., snacks, and a delicious restaurant menu for lunch and dinner (wonderful fresh grilled fish). Fransisco and his team are so professional at their job, and always smiling and welcoming. Warm friendly greetings every day from all bar and kitchen staff. The grounds/gardens/pool areas are beautiful and immaculate. An abundance of sun loungers. I loved that it's so safe too - you need your hotel key card to access large pool area. Entertainment hadn't really started yet, but would be nice to have a little low-key music in bar area. Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing, quality holiday in Macdonald Villacana and will definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you!     Clean and tidy place. So snagging g issues but that's normal. Dead as a door nail....told if I want to buy a coffee go Cancelada.......asked if sauna and steamroller working and was told to call back later to check (hint it was not working)...... overall not impressed....2 people allowed in gym and 4 pieces of equipment Aitana Urquia, Other at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback about Macdonald Villacana Resort.     Beautiful location, with lovely facilities and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay. Accommodation was well looked after and very comfortable.     Great, relaxing week in the sun.

    First time back in 20+ years. Absolutely loved going back here with my own family after so long. The gardens, walkways, pools are immaculate and it just has a great relaxing vibe. Yes, there isn't much to do on site but we were just looking for a nice relaxing time after the all inclusive chaos we usually have with our family. We hired a car for the week from Malagacar.com, this worked out about the same price as our airport transfers would have been. Visited Marbella old town, Estepona and Gibraltar, still making it back for some pool time. Filled up the well equipped kitchen for breakfast and dinner and headed to Cancelada every night for supper. Delighted we got a last minute deal to return here for a relaxing week in the sun. If that's what you are looking for then this is the place. Well equipped small shop on site with the basics you need, Lidl and Mercadona are close by. Apartment had all we needed, just a bit dated but still clean and had everything you need. We had a great time!
