    Long time visitors and impressed with refurb

    Being regular guest to the Riviera we couldn't wait to see the new refurbishment. Walking in through reception you can instantly tell this hotel has had the make over, there is chill vibe music welcoming you. This seems to be where guests are having deference of opinion. It is very Cafe Del Mar/Chill vibe music, not thumping booming music. It is noticeable but nothing that you can't have a conversation over. Lots of familiar faces in the staff which was fantastic to see. There is an exclusive lounge area for premium guests, they can help themselves to tea/drinks, all in a nice cool room with tables and chairs for relaxing. There room card swipes you in there. Many hotels offer this service for premium so it's nice to see Riviera doing same. Not a big deal if not premium, like us, plenty of other places to relax. Bali sun loungers count as complimentary if you spend £85 during the day on food/drink. The cullinarium has been replaced by a tapas style restaurant called Veranda, open all day and is such a good use of the area. The pool also now stays open until 8pm with lifeguard on duty, again such a good use of the area, can imagine in the hotter months, this will be very much used. Restaurant we only stayed B&B but plenty of options and clean, again some regular faces which was nice to see. Just note that evening meals now only start from 7.30pm though. Rooms are tidied up, mostly decor and new interior furnishings. Lovely coffee maker in Deluxe rooms (not sure if in all rooms) The outdoor jacuzzi has gone and replaced with more loungers so if you don't fancy the chill vibe music, plenty of areas to catch some quiet. There are still adding more on as we was there, the rooms on the front the deluxe club room which had the jacuzzi now have a pegoda added which is great so no one from rooms above looking direct down and adds that extra shade area. The evening entertainment reflects what the hotel is trying to achieve, relax, wellness and chill. So if you want Abba'esque nights this isn't the place for evenings in. Games room has 2 free pool tables and poker tables which is great.Whlst we had a lovely week, there are a few things we think could be improved. The lovely singer who was on from 7pm-8pm missed any audience because most people had headed down for their evening meal, so we kinda felt for him when on 2 nights we was his only audience. Might be worth many even having him near the hotel pool area or on the terrace? The bedroom doors could have done with a spruce up, maybe that's on for the next refurb and what would be amazing is for the bedroom balconies to have clear glass so you can sit outside and enjoy the view, the frosted glass kinda detracts a bit from the vibe and is very 80's style now. Other than that we highly recommend this hotel to anyone for location, for calm/quiet, for lovely staff, for cleanliness and for the people that go. Just note as well it is adult recommended and not adult only. There was one Spanish family with a little boy about 3 or 4 and I kinda felt no one was speaking to them which wasn't nice - there are no facilities for little ones but maybe parents just need the calmness too.     A lovely stay, I don’t know why some of the reviews are so poor!!!

    We’ve just visited this lovely hotel for 3 nights, and overall, we had a great time.It was our first time in Benalmádena and at this hotel, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The staff were all really attentive and helpful throughout our stay.Room:The rooms are lovely.. modern, clean. We booked a deluxe Mediterranean view and were originally in room 809, which was beautiful and had sun all afternoon/evening. Unfortunately, we had a noisy neighbour so we moved rooms.We were then moved to 801, which overlooked the pool and part of the sea, still a really nice view. This one had morning sun and evening shade, so just depends what you prefer.A couple of honest points: the insulation isn’t great, so you can hear quite a bit from rooms next door. There’s also limited hanging space (fine for a short stay like ours), and no iron in the room but I assume you can request one.Positives though: air con was good. The shower was lovely, with shampoo and body wash provided, and there’s a good sized mini fridge. The only real downside for us was that the beds are just 2 singles pushed together rather than a proper double.Pool:Really impressed with the pool area. No sunbed wars at all, you could still easily find a lounger anytime throughout the day, despite the hotel being quite busy.The atmosphere was mostly peaceful and relaxing, with chilled background music and sometimes even a harpist or violinist, which was a nice touch (when the speaker worked properly!).Food:We stayed B&B and the breakfast was good enough, with plenty of variety to suit everyone. We’d usually go just after 8am when it opened, food wasn’t always piping hot, but that’s typical for a buffet.Location:The location is fantastic. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the Marina, which has some gorgeous restaurants, and there are loads of cafés, bars, and places to eat along the way. You’re really spoilt for choice. Overall:A great stay and we’d definitely return. A few minor downsides, but nothing that took away from the overall experience.     Have visited the hotel a number of times this year was a bit of a disappointment,entertainment was disappointing having a harpist playing by the pool ? it felt you were at a funeral instead of on holiday.The refurbishment seems to have taken on a class discrimination.Good points food and staff very good.Having said that would still return but would not stay on the premises other than sleep there.     Great Refurbishment

    We have been to Hotel Riviera on a few occasions and this time was two weeks after the hotel reopened . The Hotel was still finding its feet . The staff are the same efficient friendly people. The food is the same high quality. The rooms are great , very modern contemporary. Dining room seems more spacious, but still gets clogged by Toaster and Bread and Dessert in Evening . We did receive a table on the balcony and stool in the bathroom during our stay . The Violinist and BACKGROUND Music by the pool was modern . After all he was playing. Elvis and Roy Orbison not Ibiza dance music. Please do not let , people who do not like change put you off this beautiful Hotel. The hotel was in need of updating to keep up with the Tritron. It’s in a great location. wonderful food. and very very hardworking staff. We are in 60,s . The Hotel needs to attract younger Adults who will benefit from the Massages, mindfulness , Yoga new gym and all the extras. We will be returning later in year and recommend Hotel Riviera to anyone.
