    Illness from the pool

    Had a fantastic 5 days at this hotel however on day 6 my son got very unwell vomiting and diarrohea- then myself and my husband had the illness. Found out from another friend at the hotel Sunday the 24th that their son was hospitalised in Benalemedina for the same illness. Numerous people complained of the same illness. We got an early flight home sunday evening and when we were leaving I told them I had a concern over the pool water and the receptionist said.... sorry about that. Hotel manager rang us yesterday to say they had taken samples from the pool yesterday but were convinced it wasnt the pool.Also told us that they drained the pool but had instagram stories up yesterday evening of an inflatable on it so that clearly didnt happen.We are attending our GP this evening and rang the hotel to see what the water sample came back as but they havent sent of off yet!!! Blatent disregard for public health. Saying they think its a virus spreading... highly unlikely as my family travelling with us ARE NOT SICK. Offering us a deal if we come back etc etc. All i want is an answer to what is in that pool water not a free stay. Had to pay through the nose to change flights home etc. For such a nice place the lack of responsability is disgraceful. The pharmacist in the marina told my brother in law that they had NUMEROUS guests in for medication with the same symptoms. We are sorry if our communication did not meet expectations at what was clearly a very stressful time, and we appreciate you raising your concerns.We regret that this experience overshadowed your stay and the additional inconvenience it caused you.     Brilliant family stay for a beach wedding - fantastic facilities but watch the bar prices!

    We just returned from a fantastic stay at the Sunset Beach Club in Benalmádena. We travelled as a family with our three children to attend a friend’s wedding. Booking a self-catering apartment gave us the perfect, flexible base. The hotel is gorgeous and absolutely spotless throughout. The staff are incredibly welcoming.The Wedding VenueIf you are considering this hotel for a wedding, do it. The setup is stunning. They have a completely private ceremony spot right by the beach, which feels intimate and looks beautiful. The function room for the reception was amazing, and having a dedicated bar right on the beach made the transition from ceremony to evening completely seamless. The events team really know how to manage a crowd.Location and PracticalitiesThe location works perfectly for a self-catering holiday. If you turn left out of the hotel reception, a short stroll takes you to a great local supermarket for your main essentials. Turning right takes you directly along the beach promenade. This direction is packed with gift shops and several great restaurants to explore. There is an on-site supermarket inside the hotel too. The pricing in there was a bit mixed. Some items were perfectly fine, while others were definitely inflated because of the convenience. It is handy for bits you forget, but do your main shop down the road.Pools and Entertainment for the KidsOur children absolutely loved the facilities. The pools are gorgeous and very well maintained. If your kids like video games, the arcade room here is massive. It kept ours entertained for hours. We saw the kids club running and it looked great, though we did not actually use it during our stay. We also did not eat at the main hotel restaurants, so we cannot comment on the food quality. The evening entertainment, however, was highly impressive. It was varied and genuinely fun for the whole family.The One CatchOur only minor negative was the price of drinks at the hotel bars. They are charging what feels like London prices. It is very steep, and that applies to basic soft drinks for the kids too. It was the only time we missed the predictable cost of an all-inclusive package.Even with the steep drink prices, it is not enough to knock a star off. The spotless cleanliness and the incredible wedding venue made it an absolute 5-star experience for us. We would come back without hesitation.     Nice clean family hotel

    We stayed in a Junior Suite which was lovely with fabulous sea view. The hotel was very clean and well run. The kids club is brilliant. Could be quite noisy at night in the halls and we struggled to get sunbeds some days but overall I would return nd recommend.     Lovely hotel terrible food

    Hotel is lovely but do not under any circumstances eat here, food is dire, the person charging €21 for what they call a buffet should be wearing a balaclava ridiculous. Such a pity because the hotel and pool everything is spot on but the food spoils it, feel sorry for anyone who went all inclusive or half board.
