  Budget-Friendly but Basic—Check-In for Location, Not Luxury

  Staying in Girona to attend an event nearby. Not a bad location for general tourism in the region. Location:This hostel is in a great location, close to the old town and just a short walk from buses and the train station. While I didn’t have a car, parking options are available nearby for those who need them.Room/Comfort:The hostel room was clean but not very modern. The beds were tightly packed, making it difficult to move around—especially with luggage—and entering or exiting discreetly was a challenge. The door was unconventional, and locking/unlocking it was noisy, which could be disruptive when others were trying to sleep.There weren’t enough plug sockets for guests, and the only light source was the main light, which isn’t ideal for a hostel environment.Facilities:Lockers are available for free, both inside and outside the rooms, though I’m not sure how they are allocated—presumably based on availability. There’s a dining area and kitchen on both floors, but they’re only accessible when staff are on duty (not during the day or early morning). The kitchens weren’t well-equipped—cups and clean cutlery were hard to find—and I personally wouldn’t cook there due to cleanliness concerns.Service:I only interacted with staff during check-in, but they were polite and friendly.Extras:Breakfast was included and continental-style, with cereals, toast, ham, cheese, and spreads. However, on one morning, breakfast wasn’t available, so don’t rely on it.Final Note:I struggled with the internal main door on the upper floor—it required a specific trick to unlock (something about pulling it), which I never quite figured out.

  Unsafe. Dirty.

  Unsafe. Dirty. I booked for two nights but left after one. The door handle kept falling off and couldn’t be secured. There was an electrical extension lead trailing across the middle of the room for charging phones. The bed was badly stained. The hall was poorly lit. Everywhere was dirty. It was horrible.

  We only saw the receptionist when we first checked in, when he gave us a wrong key for our room and only 1 locker instead of 2. After that point he disappeared for two days, never picked up his phone and we never got to talk to him again. On our first night, we had to sleep in the reception for a couple hours, because of the faulty key. Other than that, the whole place was dirty, breakfast was nonexistent and the staff was rude. We were never given any amortissement for the whole key disaster, and they basically kicked us out rudely at 12 pm, while insisting the receptionist wouldn’t be available until 4. Overall: Overpriced, dirty, rude, and pretty much just a scam.

  Girona is a great place to base yourself to explore this beautiful town and area, Cadaquez, Fiqueres, land and sea adventures and the hostel Bed in Girona is a great place to stay, low cost but worth every euro, great people, says it all.
