    Kind and accommodating

Very generous and responsive hosts. They were really understanding and supportive when our cycle adventure had to be adapted due to gale force winds in the mountains.

    Nice

The room was nice, but the price could definitely be lower. I liked that there was an exit to the terrace where to dry things after the hike. The staff didn't understand a word of English the first day, but luckily the second day they spoke perfectly and were able to give directions for further trip planning. Very very tasty breakfast.

    Perfect stopover

Cross the border, turn right and you have arrived. The village is not charming at first glance and hotel may not be impressive from the outside. But it’s perfect for a quick stop to get rested: nice and quite space room, nice staff, clean, affordable and a space for your car in front of the hotel. Breakfast was classic but served with a smile for 4.50€. I heard no noise at all during night.

    Value for money

We stayed 1 night on our journey from Spain to the UK and only wanted a medium priced hotel to stay in. The Puerta de Espania fitted the bill perfectly. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. My only complaint was the fact I couldn't turn the heating down overnight, so was to hot and woke several times. Breakfast is available at around 8 euros per person and had plenty of choice including bacon and scrambled egg. We opted for the continental breakfast which again, offered plenty of choice. There is no restaurant facilities at the hotel and we had read other reviews concerning the buffet restaurant across the road.We found a very pleasant cafe/bar down the road call the Mar y Sol, which also allowed us to bring our pet dog into the restaurant. Food was good and not overly priced. As other reviews have stated, the town isn't up to much but the location and the friendliness of the hotel is worth considering when choosing your overnight accommodation.

A pleasant stay after a long drive

Clean and friendly- basic but enough. The town is a giant truck stop, but the hotel is on a quieter part of the NII road to the frontier. Right next door to a very well stocked supermarket -hams and booze!
