  WiFi too slow to use but....

  It was a great place to stay considering the price.This is a low budget hotel so in my opinion it ticked the boxes: very clean, well located (10 min walk to centre), good facilities, maid serviceThings to be aware of: WiFi was awful I couldn’t use it not even to browse google!!! The lights were on a timer and the sensors didn’t pick up if you were in the shower so the lights went out often.The rooms have TVs which annoys me because in Spain (and in my vast experience living and traveling around Spain) people generally lack manners and consideration so expect to hear loud talking and the TV on at 2am. I recommend wax ear plugs!

  When we said we were going to the laundry just next door the receptionist said they could wash it for us for free if we waited until the next day. So we waited. Come back the next evening to a bag full of wet clothes and a charge for the same price as the laundromat. We then had to take out clothes to the laundromat to dry them and missed our bus. Thanks for nothing.

  Incorrect address - the entrance is in the street around the corner.Air conditioning - that is the draught coming through the windows frames.Cold - there was a small cast iron radiator in the room - central heating only on for a few hours a day - late afternoon, early evening.Hot water - only when central heating on - non existent after 8.00 am.Poor maintenance - wrong size sink plug and bathroom light had incorrect light bulb.sleep quality poor - very cold, uncomfortable bed, loud street noise all hours of the night.There was an air conditioning unit in the room -doubt if it worked since no remote control.

  Noisy and poor location

  This hostel started out well. The receptionist spoke English and gave me a map of the city and explained where things are which was nice. There was no offer to help me carry my heavy bay up the stairs but that didn't bother me. I booked a single room which was absolutely tiny. With a bed and my bag on the floor there was no other room to move. Still, that's ok. There was a sink in the room which was handy. But they have a printed sign in the room that says unless, at the end of your stay, you take your bin liner bag from the room and empty it in the trash can in the street, or you'll be charged 35 euros, didn't impress. Of course I didn't do this and I'm waiting to see if they deduct my credit card 35 euros. The hostel is super noisy with guests coming back at all hours until 3 am. The walls are very thin so every time someone comes back and let's the front gate slam you wake up. And the owners are noisy too. I got up at 6am to try to get a ticket to the Alhambra and tried to leave quietly so as not to wake anyone but the elderly owner started asking me in the hallway very loudly where I was going which I am sure would have woken everyone up at 6am! There are signs posted that there is to be no noise after 11pm but his is not enforced at all. Noisy guests come back talking at 2am. And of course you wake up. The location is a good 15 mins walk from the old city and a good 45 min walk at least to the Alhambra. It's not such a bad walk but it's not centrally located.

  The weekend we were in Granada was a holiday weekend, so unfortunately the cost of most hotel accommodations were high. We chose to stay here because of the price, and I would have to say I think we still paid too much for this accommodation. I have stayed much nicer places for less.First off- I do not think this hostal is in a great or even a good location. A lot of reviews said good location, but it really isn't. It is a doable location and nothing more. It is a 20 minute walk to anything in the center of town. I don't mind a walk, but I wish that had done better research into its location when I was booking this hotel. If you want to get tickets to the Alhambra it would take at least 45mins-1hr to get up there.Secondly- poor service. Maybe it was just the day we were there, but the checkin process was one of the worst I have ever experienced. We arrived in the afternoon during the time listed for checkin and stood outside ringing the bell for over 15 minutes until a girl came to answer the door. She was wearing headphones and seemed to have zero concern that we had been outside waiting. She then told us that our room was at an apartment in a different building around the corner. She initially just pointed to where we were supposed to go, however there were 3 separate keys to different entrances, so I asked that she show us to the room. Once in the room, I noticed there were no towels. She told us we would need to come back to the other hotel to get the towels. I told her I would be right down to get them after I set down my luggage....I literally went right back to get the towels and again waited another 15-20 minutes for her to answer the door. (I had assumed she had left the building, but then after 20 mins I saw her just walk out of a room upstairs and come down to open the door for me). Simple suggestion to solve this problem is that the person checking people in/answering your door should probably NOT sit in a room upstairs wearing headphones!The only positives I can think of are that the doors locked, there was free wifi, and the bedding seemed clean (by clean I mean it didn't have fresh stains and we did not get bedbugs).
