    Hotel from hell

    rating28 May 2026

Awful experience from start to finish, wrong room given, reception staff very rude and unhelpful, food cold and absolutely disgusting, went out to eat most days, ran out of food on several occasions, food deliveries left out in the sun , rooms were very old and in need of attention, only 1 curtain in our room , shower didn't work properly, dirty communial areas, very uneven pavements, no lighting outside rooms, wouldn't come back if you paid me

Budget hotel for families with kids

    rating27 May 2026

We had a 3 night stay here after an 11 night stay in Formentera. For a short stay it was fine but its a good walk to the beach & centre of Cala Llonga (uphill on the way back) taxis back up the hill are only 5-6 euros though. Lots of steps within the hotel complex so be warned! I would say the vibe is for families here with evening entertainment & lots of kids at the pool. Its clean & functional although our room smelled a little foisty & needed a good airing. It was a budget hotel though & suited our needs for a few days.

    Better than I thought

    rating27 May 2026

We have spent a week here. Fourth time in Ibiza and first time in Cala Llonga.TBH after reading some of the reviews I was in two minds if we should book a different hotel.....but....we stuck with the Montemar...The location is good, less then 10 minutes walk to the beautiful beach. The beach is clean with lots of space, shallow clear water. You can book a ferry to Es Canar, Ibiza Town and Santa Eulalia. Well worth it to see the rocky coast line. The tourist train stops by the beach (we call it a Noddy train! haha)There's a bus stop out side Madison's bar a few minutes walk away and usually Taxis there as well.We took a taxi to Punta Arabi and then the ferry back. Pricier than the bus, but quicker. So the hotel....it's set on a road called Mount Killimanjaro....there's a road further down called Everest ....says it all!The hotel is set in the hills,it's a great location. If you are in anyway unable to walk up or down steps this is not the hotel for you. There are steps everywhere. I'm not exaggerating.....they are literally everywhere. The only rooms I saw that do not have steps are directly next to the pool. There is a lift from reception (same floor as the restaurant) to the pool area. You will be expected to carry your luggage your self! Theres no one to do that for you.We had a family room, there was no kettle or iron,I'm not sure if you can hire them from reception as we brought our own. There is a small fridge in the living area and hairdryer in the bathroom. As usual with most hotels, not enough pegs or storage. Theres plenty of places where pegs or hooks could go. Also no pictures on the walls...sounds silly, but can make a difference to a room.I've read previous reviews saying towels aren't changed and rooms aren't cleaned. However the outside area and room was swept and towels changed one day during the week. I don't need anyone cleaning my room as I do it myself. If we needed a towel I went to reception to ask. They have them under the counter. The bathroom...our one was adequate, however on our first day we didn't have any hot water, the maintenance man popped round and said the fuse was off. But...the hot water didn't last long .Also the shower floor was at an angle so the water run over it and on the floor ,we had to position the shower head so this didn't happen.Check in...please note...if you arrive early it's highly likely your room will not be ready. My advise is to pack your swim stuff or shorts etc in your hand luggage if you can,coz you're going to be waiting quite a while. We arrived just after 11am the room was ready at 3pm and there was no budging on that. The receptionist did suggest we grab what we could from our suitcases and get changed in the toilet. Didn't really want to do that. Felt a bit sorry for the receptionists it's not their fault rooms aren't ready, not enough towels etc...they must get it every day. That is a management issue. We went to the bar and waited. We were given our wrist bands so grabbed drinks and chips! The tokens...you are given a token each when you check in ,take them to the bar the bar staff will sort your drink and keep the token. We held on to our cups and got clean ones when we went to get another drink. It's all about sustainability, there's a notice by the bar telling you all about it.Bar staff are absolutely amazing, always a smile and so polite regardless what time of day!The lady at the pool snack bar is lovely too, must get really hot in there, you can get chips chicken nuggets, burgers, toasties and hot dogs oh and little tubs of ice cream. In the chiller there's always fruit, melon apples etc, sandwiches and salad. The food.....I always struggle,I'm vegetarian so any time on AI I expect to not really be catered for. But....I thought the selection was really good.Lots of salads and veggie mains, rice pasta. Of course if you eat meat and fish you are spoiled here.Food was not always hot there's a microwave by the soup if needed.Oh one thing...the food isn't labelled! There are labels (on somethings) but the same ones most days that don't match the food.If you have allergies be very careful!Never a label saying what the soup was either! The Sunbeds....we never had an issue getting a sunbed. But I'd hate to be here in July and August,I imagine they would get reserved real quick. Great suntrap up on the rooms by the pool, slightly quieter up there too.The entertainment...we didn't stick around for the evening entertainment so can't comment there's info by the bar. There's two girls on the animation team, can't comment on them either TBH.The hotel is clean, with a very small work force, they do need more staff, in all areas. The staff seem to work long shifts. The whole team do a fantastic job.I went not expecting the hotel to be as good as it actually is,so despite a couple of issues we thought it wasnt that bad.At the end of the day you get what you pay for, if you want 4 or 5 star pay the prices.

For not the first time in this trip to Ibiza, felt the need to write a review of a much maligned place. We booked this stay in Ibiza very much last minute for a bit of May sun from the UK. I really don’t get what other reviews are on about. It’s a 2 star hotel, and you totally get what the star rating suggests. Everywhere was clean, functional (if not a bit dated) but attempts have been made to keep everything as tidy as possible. Our room (a bit tired looking) had a great shower, good blackout curtains, plentiful hot water (a really good bathroom actually) and lots of space. The grounds and gardens around the complex (as others have mentioned) are pretty. The pool is big with lots of sun loungers on offer - the only down side is the screaming kids who aren’t supervised by their parents making a racket all day!The food we found to be fresh and tasty. Loads of varied salad and veg options. Saw a few people complaining that the burgers weren’t ‘gourmet’ (🙄) but by the looks of them they could’ve done with losing a bit of weight and trying something else instead! The pool bar was really great. The queues were long but died down quickly. Worked our way through plenty of all inclusive beer and sangria which was cold and good quality. You give in a token to get a drink then keep your cup to change when you want something else. Hardly rocket science for those who moan! But above all the staff are really lovely. The reception staff are welcoming, the bar staff smiley and the waiters also happy and helpful. While 80% of people staying here are decent, warm hearted people enjoying their family breaks, like everywhere there are a few ****s who let the side down complaining like they think they’re in a 5 star luxury Las Vegas resort! The welcoming lady who checked us in said she loved British holidaymakers the most (although god knows why!)So don’t hesitate to come here if you want an informal, comfortable, easy going break with no frills but plenty of drink and some decent food. Thank you to all the staff!
