How do they get away with calling it boutique?

    rating13 Sept 2025

We stayed two nights at this hotel. Before arriving, we were pretty sketched out about the place. We didn't read the reviews in advance and figured since we booked via AMEX points via AMEX travel, that it would be OK. We read the reviews a day before arriving but it was too late to cancel. We decided just to go with it and see how it is when we get there, hoping it wouldn't be as bad as others wrote. Thank goodness our stay was post-renovation. The old pictures look ghastly. We were in room 406. It was renovated, clean, and thank goodness I didn't see any cockroaches. We only used the refrigerator to store cold drinks. The bathroom furniture was a bit run down looking, but overall it was fine and clean. The shower worked nicely. The size of the room was nice. The floor was renovated but you could feel several spots where the floor was caved in, underneath, but covered up by the new material. Not a huge problem. My biggest problem is that the AC didn't work. Luckily it wasn't the height of summer so we managed. The AC in this hotel is one of those that are centrally controlled, I'm sure of it. I've been in several hotels in Europe like this. The wall thermostat is just a decoy. It wouldn't turn on at all in the cold setting, but it did turn on in the heat setting and we put the temerature dial down to the lowest it could go. It was running, as we heard a noise, but it really wasn't cooling the room. Maybe it was a small fan? Either way, the room was "stuffy" / warm / not cooled / not a lot of air moving around. The first day we opened the window and that helped, but then of course you have to deal with the street noise. The bar/restaurant downstairs is very popular and always was packed. One last thing - I didn't see signs anywhere showing the hotel's new name "Boutique Urban Madrid Genova." Seems at one point it was called Andromeda Apartments. TripAdvisor is calling it BlueSense. Can you please update this everywhere?? We arrived before check in and were able to store our bags, but there was no lobby restroom for me to use before heading out, and I found this very strange. The location of the hotel was perfect, but I would not stay again.

Do not stay here – unsafe, dirty and bugs crawling from the wall

    rating02 Jul 2025

We had a terrible experience at this property and are still waiting on a refund — the hotel is simply not communicating. When we arrived, we immediately noticed bugs crawling out of a hole in the wall right next to the bed. We were on the 6th floor, and the bugs were coming from inside the wall — not from outside or because of food. We have photos and videos showing this. It was clearly a maintenance problem. There was also a strong, unpleasant smell in the apartment — like smoke, mold, or chemicals — and I ended up having a rash, irritated eyes, and a full allergic reaction. I couldn’t sleep until 5:30 a.m. because I felt so uncomfortable and unwell. At around 3:00 a.m., we were also woken up by a loud party or argument in the neighboring apartment — the walls are paper thin. We barely slept at all.We went to reception in the morning to explain everything. No one spoke English, and they told us the manager wouldn’t be available until Monday. I tried speaking in Spanish, but we didn’t get any help. We were offered another room, but after everything — especially the allergic reaction — we didn’t feel safe staying any longer and left.We later found many reviews on Google and other sites complaining about the exact same things: bugs, noise, smells, and no help from staff. Unfortunately, none of those reviews showed up on Booking.com, or we never would have booked it.We’ve tried reaching out about a refund for the remaining nights — we even said we’re happy to pay for the first night — but the hotel has refused to communicate or take any responsibility. We’ve now contacted Booking.com, and we’re disputing the charge with our credit card.

not a hotel but an apart hotel

    rating30 Mar 2025

I never thought I would have such a bad accommodation experience in Madrid. It is definitely not a suitable hotel for business people. There is only 1 iron in the big hotel and it is broken. They want a 50 € deposit. Breakfast is at a different cafe 100 meters away. They give you a croissant or 2 slices of bread with tomato for breakfast. We stayed without breakfast even though we paid for bed and breakfast. It was one of the worst accommodation experiences of my life (I can't even call it a hotel)

    Cockroaches, dirty and loud

    rating11 Nov 2019

Upon checkin I already realised that the "hotel" undergoing a renovation and it is look like a construction site. Doors and other construction pieces all over the hotel. The room I got was huge disappointment as 1st nite several cockroaches were climbing out in the evening that freaked me out and could not sleep all nite. It was not only one, but several crawling in the bathroom and kitchen area, sink, floor. How it is possible they renovating the hotel and it has cockroaches in the rooms? Also you cannot sit down to the toilet because your leg doesnot fit between toilet and bidet and my legs are normal/skinny. I complained to booking.com 2am in the morning sicne I could not sleep due to the roaches, they were helpful and tried their best but obviously the hotel was not open to refund my stay ( since I wanted to move out to another hotel) no matter they saw the pictures of the roaches. Top of this they kept the old tiles and they put the new sink and shower on top, but tiles moving as you walk on it. The whole apprtment felt like it will fall apart. As reception does not speak any English I asked my friend to come with me and told them about my issue. They till refused any refund and they offered another room. The 2nd room was clean and bigger but heating was not working and it was extrenely loud since it was facing main road. basically you felt like your bed is right on the main road. If you have no earplug, impossible to sleep. Would never ever stay in that place ever. I do not recommend it to anyone ruining their stay in beuatiful Madrid. If they were smart they would renovate it nicely and can create a great hotel in a nice area. But doing this surface renovation will not help anything and in 1-2 year it will be same bad as before and as it is now.80EUR for a room like that?? Ridicolus!
