Location

This beach hotel is situated in the tourist centre, directly beside the beach. It is less than 5 km to the town centre, where a selection of shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs can be found. The airport is 3 km from the hotel.

The hotel was modernised in 2022. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities at the hotel include a baggage storage service. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities and 2 lifts. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a laundry service and a hotel doctor.     Far from the Madding Crowd

    This was our third time at this resort which speaks for itself. The rooms are comfortable with sea views. There is a good choice of food in the restaurant and the Chiringuito. The facilities are extensive with indoor and outdoor pools, spa and gymnasium. The heart of the resort is the staff who create a welcoming, calm environment. Always professional and appropriately friendly. Some people buy a house in Spain. Sol Gudalmar is our Spanish home.

    Lack of water due to ongoing maintenance

    My family of six adults and one baby arrived at the Sol Malaga Guadalmar on May twentieth.The morning after arrival, there was no water in our tap or shower.On arrival at reception en route to breakfast, we reported same and were asked for our room number.Second morning again no water.The phone in the room appeared disconnected so, on arrival at reception another guest ahead of me was complaining of the same issue.Three other couples were also waiting to complain.The strategy of the receptionist was to appear to take the room number saying she would speak to the maintenance staff, knowing full well exactly what was happening.I asked to speak to the general manager who apparently was not there.I assume high guest satisfaction/ experience was not top of his list.This hotel appears to be undergoing a significant upgrade but, why should it be at personal cost to the holidaymaker? Surely we expect to de-stress whilst on holiday?Having paid a significant sum of money for what we hoped was a restful holiday, ended up being a stressful experience.If the issue of ongoing maintenance had been made known to us ,and we were told of water disruption we would have tried to understand but, the manner in which management obviously have decided to ignore their clients interest is a definite factor in choosing a different hotel on our return.

    Disappointing and overpriced

    We have visited this hotel before and loved it, meaning we were really looking forward to coming back. We went for dinner here on our last night to end our trip on a high, however we were left extremely disappointed with not much to show after spending +70€. Firstly, we were told to sit anywhere when we entered the buffer area, but then were abruptly shouted at by a member of staff to not sit at a particular table as it was only to be used for breakfast service. After sitting at another table, other guests arrived and sat where we originally planned to, yet they were not shouted at across the dining area. Since we were here last year, the quality and choice of food options have became laughable- a fresh grilling section where red meat and fish were in the same container, cold and undercooked chips and onion rings, cheese pizza that looked like it belonged at a child’s birthday party and a salad section with lettuce that had turned limp and brown. As for the dessert options, there was a cake that looked like it had been sat out for three days, minuscule pieces of tiramisu and ice cream that tasted cheap and was finished in two spoonfuls. Unsure how this is still a 4 star hotel, but we will definitely not be back, especially considering the price and quality.

    We returned yet again to this excellent hotel which has recently undergone a refurbishment. We could not fault it before the work was carried out. From the moment of booking through to your departure you get treated as a valued client. All the staff (too many to name individually) are professional helpful and attentive. When the manager Elena is on duty you can always see her around the hotel checking that things are running smoothly from the front desk to the restaurant and the outside area. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. All rooms have a sea view and are of a high standard. There is a bus stop just outside to get you into Malaga which is about 30 minutes and also Torrelominos and beyond. The beach is never overcrowded. There are sunbeds on the beach. The hotel has cabanas which are away from the swimming pool and are right next to the sea. It is early in the season so I think the entertainment might be just starting. We had a singer on Thursday and she was really good. The taxis outside the airport are plentiful at a cost of 18-25 euros depending on day and time. If there is not a taxi outside the hotel the reception will phone one for you. There is a good outlet near the airport. There are two restaurants outside of the hotel which are located on the beach. In short….. I really can’t find anything negative hence our regular visits. I hope you enjoy 😊
