Not the cleanest place I've stayed

    rating19 Sept 2019

Me and my partner went here for relaxing time which the island itself was beautiful lots walking and plenty of hills and steps. The accommodation was in 1 word terrible rooms are very dated there were holes in the walls chunks out of skirting boards ants everywhere our room was only cleaned once and that was only because we complained because of the ants.it was stated that u had to buy your own toilet rolls if u needed anymore the balcony wasnt cleaned at all and we ended up doing this ourselves we wouldn't reccomend this place stay and if we return we will not stay here we ate out at romany bar and bridge cafe the food was amazing at both we also visited kanes bar which was nice and they have a happy hour 6 til 8 buy get 1 free on all drinks so we got 4 beers for 6 euros bargain

    These apartments need knocking down!

    rating25 Jul 2018

These apartments are so old, furniture, beds, mattresses, sofa, utensils and bathroom fittings are old and had it!, Major issue NO FANS NO AIR CON and in 32-35c it is awful with out the terrible pillows and boney mattress, you try and sleep. The bathroom is tiny no more than 6ft square, with bath, toilet and massive basin, you have to pass by to get in and out.hitting your bum on the door handle. If you are into cooking on holiday, these apartments are not for you, it just doesn’t have the facilities apart from table and four chairs. Lovely flat Tv with 50 channels but not one English!!!!! Balcony railings wooden with top wobbly rail on third floor and the same for the pool railings and railings up the steps to the pool all wooden and wobbly with gaps for young toddlers to fall through! The pool is lovely apart from the flat unadjustable sun beds and tatty parasols. As for the advertised free wi fi, no wonder it’s free as the couldn’t possibly charge for it as it is so intermittent. But it was clean, sheets and towels were clean which is the only positive. If it was really cheap what we paid then I wouldn’t of been as harsh as you pay for what you get but we paid £ 775 for a week, which I would of rather put towards something more worthwhile, total waste of money. All I can say is we have stayed in many apt’s through the years at arenal and this is the worst but I should think it was the first built there, hence needs knocking down, we will not be going back and we were glad to get home. El Mirador excellent restaurant next door with good supermarkets.

Somewhat dated, basic but what do you want for your money ?

    rating16 Aug 2017

What do people want for their money ?....If you want double glazing, all the mod cons and quality Egyptian fluffy towels then go and pay like £3500 down the road in White Sands Hotel. We've just come back from a cheapy week away and paid £1490 for 1 x week self catering for 2 adults and 2 kids. OK, so this is the score. The apartments are somewhat dated and could do with some T.L.C. but let's face it how much time does anyone spend inside their apartment ? The beds are somewhat lumpy, long sausage shaped pillows and towels need renewing. The cooking facilities are a 2 ring hob, microwave, very mini oven thing, sufficient cutlery and crockery etc.We weren't aiming to cook whilst on holiday ! The furniture is basic, just about reasonable for the needs, shower works etc. The pool is basic but funtional. In fairness any kids could be get fairly bored as there isn't many kids around. Advise asking across the road at the sister hotel (Isla Paraiso) to use their facilities and " that you'll use their snack bar or main bar, buy drinks , few snacks etc etc". If you are self catering at Sol Isla..then Paraiso do a breakfast + dinner deal (3 nights worth 2 ads 2 kids 135 euros...see my review on that hotel) . Sol Isla was pretty much clean and tidy in general.Towels changed 2 x in week. A few ants visit on a regular basis and seem to live rent free ! Not much trouble ! The apartments seem to be occcupied by some private owners which is not a problem. There is a supermarket next to reception.Holds just about all you may need and is priced roughly same as back home. Top tip...if going out to the roadway towards the restaurants etc , use the cut through between the 2 blocks by the swimming pool...it cuts off a bit of a hill by the reception way ! I don't think the resort is for wheelchairs or those who say may find walking a problem etc. It is rather hilly/steep in places....lots of steps around to get to the beach level . The wooden decking beach pathway is a nice walk of an evening. It goes to sod all at the other end of the beach as such but is worth going to get a picture of the bay, accomodations etc etc. In general , Soil Isla is what you pay for. Don't expect the world. I've stayed in far worse yet far better. I thought the resort does have a Spanishy feel about it, but i wouldn't go back as there's other places in the Med/World I'd want to go to.
