    Good clean apartments

    rating20 Oct 2025

Return visitorWe've been visiting Menorca for over 40 years staying all over the island in different apartments but for the last 10 years at son bou gardens booking direct with Menorcarentals. I have to say I don't recognise some of the reviews yes the apartments are basic, that's reflected in the low price you pay. I've never seen a cockroach although it you leave food out or spill a drink on the floor ants can be a problem as is anywhere with a hot climate. As stated the apartments are basic but have every thing needed for a self catering holiday I've always found them to be clean. Depending which zone you are in the walk to the beach can be anything from 10 to 30 minute walk as there's a nature reserve separating the apartments if you do have walking difficulties I would suggest requesting zone 3. I wouldn't take any notice of the glossy magazines from the big companies that tell you that son bou gardens is beach front, nightly entertainment, 3 pools with water slides, as stated they are not beach front and the water slides and club closed down years ago. The supermarkets in son bou are ridiculously expensive if you don't have a car I would suggest getting the bus into Alaior town a 15 minute journey and shopping there I've seen some items half the price then the resort supermarkets are charging. A big shout out to Don Cars a local car hire company meet and greet at the airport half half fuel policy and under 5 minutes I was driving away. Please be careful of the company's offering car hire for silly money they are off site with a minibus transfer the the hard sale starts with excess insurance or £1000 on a credit card then charge a fortune for a small scratch read reviews before booking.

    LOVE HOLIDAYS BOOKING

    rating20 Sept 2025

This review is to the false advertising on Love Holidays who we booked with. The complex is not beach front nor is there direct access. There is a huge preservation area in front of the beach for a 1km + stretch so reaching the beach is a 1.5km walk around it.The multiple pools shown in photos with blue slides and kids areas are all shut down and have been for years. The multiple pools advertised is 2 pools that are privately owned basic pools which have to be paid for... also have to pay to use the loungers. No laundrette. (As advertised)No nightly entertainment. (As advertised)No night club. (As advertised)No restaurants (1 poolside pizzeria) No late check out. (As advertised)No safes in room. (As advertised)We booked multiple apartments as a large group and the only the only fit for the humans was the deluxe apartment with aircon and even that was basic.Apartments overrun with ants and cockroaches. As for the blonde woman in reception she definitely lives up to the many bad reviews about her! Funny thing is she's British!! She should be hid out the back and banned from interacting with the public! Would never return to this island or complex. I need a holiday to recover from this holiday!

    Beautiful Setting, Decent Apartment

    rating15 Aug 2025

Sou Bou is a beautiful area of Menorca, in which these apartments are located. Reception was a bit difficult, as the receptionist understood very little English. Our apartment was well kept, very clean and tidy. It was relatively recently decorated, but worn in places. There was also some ceiling mould in the bathroom. The extra blankets were also used and were dirty, requiring cleaning. The Kitchen included a fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and stove. The beach was accessible by car, but not by walk, especially in the summer heat.

I was worried about our stay due to all the negative reviews but had nothing to worry about. We stayed here 10 years ago and our return visit was different but we had a lovely time. Since our previous visit the mushroom in the pool no longer works, the water slides have all shut down, the main pool is closed, the main restaurant is closed, no longer any evening entertainment and you now have to pay to use a sun lounger!! We stayed apt 9 by gondalas by reception and the apt was lovely, clean, everything in working order, washing machine, really good air con etc. we paid for sun loungers the first day at the pool behind reception but didn’t bother after that - we never got asked. The sun loungers have seen better days and very uncomfortable. We found the beach club pool further along which is much nicer and well looked after and cleaned but they do ask for payment every time there. Ice creams, drinks and on site super market are expensive. There’s a cheaper one further along by all the restaurants. The beach is crystal clear, one of the best beaches I’ve ever seen. They charge €25 for sun loungers though!!Despite a few niggles it was a great holiday and I would return. Ps - the chickens did wake us up around 4am most mornings.

    Disappointing

    rating02 Nov 2024

On arriving, we were told the apartment (95) was not ready but we could leave our luggage there. We met with the housekeeper en route who told us that they needed to change the sofa cover. We went for a walk and when we returned an hour or so later, the sofas had been stripped and covered with a sheet.(the covers were returned the following day) Upon further inspection, it didn’t look like any cleaning had been done and the whole apartment was very shabby and run down. I believe they are all privately owned so this may not be typical of them all. There was jam smeared on the coffee table, thick dust on the bed headboard and litter on the front lawn area. There was no Tui rep on site and our Spanish is not up to much for a confrontation, so we knuckled down and cleaned up ourselves. Altogether, not a great start to the holiday. However, the outlook is lovely and the gardens are well kept. It was near the end of the season so a lot of the restaurants had closed, but there were enough to choose from for the week we were there. We also hired a car so were able to travel further afield. On the upside, the wifi was great!
