Location

This hotel is located on the beautiful natural bay and harbour of Mahó the capital of Minorca. In quiet surroundings, it is ideally located only 800m away from the Cala Padera beach. Various shops, restaurants, bars and links to the public transport network can be found within a radius of around 500m.

Facility

160 rooms and 13 suites are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Guests receive a welcome drink upon arrival. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park.     We have recently returned from a 4 day stay in this lovely hotel. it is in a very quiet residential area. No beach. Suited us perfectly we sat up on the roof which has 6 whirl pools, it was pretty quiet so no issue getting a bed. The roof terrace has glass walls so its very similar vibe to a cruise ship deck. And as its a very deep bay there is quite a lot of traffic including some amazing ships as they cruise past. Always something to look at. Towels are provided. There is pool in the center of the property but it doesn't seem to get the sun a lot. We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast was exceptional with plenty of choice and even enough to make a small snack for later. If you don't like birds don't sit outside. We did sit outside cause the view was so tranquill. We booked a sea view room and this too was amazing. The room was clean and well equipped but on the small side. Bed was very comfortable. Wouldn't like to have been staying any longer ( compact and bijou) We only had to walk a short distance in the evening to find some restaurants which had beautiful view of the lovely bay, so peaceful.     The main problem is the Wi-Fi in the rooms. Unacceptable in a 4 star hotel. Taking too long to fix. The hot food on the buffet is warm .it needs to be hotter. We ate at 7pm the first evening. The paella was only warm . The next evening the fries were cold. Attention is needed.     Lovely quiet location, hotel needs some tweaking!

    We stayed 4 nights and had a lovely time. Es Castell is a very peaceful location and the sea views are very picturesque. We were all inclusive and the buffet meals were great with plenty of choice. It was relatively easy to get sunbeds around the pool or up on the sky deck. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful; especially Monica in the restaurant and Magdalena who did our massages in the spa. Definitely book a room with sea view and balcony.A couple of negatives the hotel should easily address: (1)The WiFi in the public areas is good but was totally non-existent in our room (221) and the same for a number of other guests we spoke to; unacceptable in a modern 4* hotel. (2) The AI cocktail list is very poor with only 5 or 6 obscure options on it; drinks like Pina Colada, Mojito, Cosmopolitan, Expresso Martini, Daiquiri, Caipirinha, Mimosa, all cost extra. (3) The AI house Rose wine was okay but the White wasn't great.(4) We had to chase on 2 of the 4 days for the tea/coffee/milk to be topped up. (5) The kettle tray was too far from the plug. You either had to put the tray setup on the floor, or move it to the bathroom unit to plug it in. (6) We were supposed to have robes/slippers in the room which were only forthcoming once we raised the issue with reception. That said, we would certainly go back for another short break.
