Very dated, lack of facilities, expensive

    rating03 Sept 2025

This was a very late booking with Jet2 holidays. Only 1 room left and was self-catering only. Had visited before about 35 years ago with children and returned with grown up daughter and grandchildren. Was surprised to see little had changed. Children loved the pools and nearby beach. Rooms are dated but comfortable. There was a rain storm one afternoon and water poured in through the door, flooded the floor up to kitchen area and then out of the balcony door. Fortunately there is a mop and bucket in the kitchen which we used to mop up 3 buckets of water and stopped the water flow with towels. The marks up to 4” 100mm on the dining table legs suggested this was a regular occurrence. I went own to reception to report the incident and found staff bare footed doing a similar mopping. “Yes, when it rains in Menorca it can be heavy” I was told. Given more towels and told housekeeping would be requested to help. The resort was very quiet, we found just 5 nearby restaurants and a couple more on the beach front, we tried just 3 of them and food was adequate but expensive. We took a taxi to nearby Arenal and found some much better restaurants. Even taking taxi fare into account it was still a lot cheaper than eating locally. There are 2 supermarkets and 1 bakery close by and again prices higher than expected, taking advantage of the monopoly situation. Was told the nearby hotel could be used for breakfast but was only open 0800 to 1000 and found it to be very busy. There is a very small café close to reception but opening hours are short. 1 Pizza and 2 orange juices about 20 Euros. The 2 pools are well used; the children especially liked the one with the water slides. There are ample sun loungers but most need the suspension cord replacing as they sag very badly and are very uncomfortable.Reception is open 24 hours and staffs are always very friendly and helpful. Would we return or recommend this establishment, probably not.

Nice pools but disappointed the bar closed at 5pm.

    rating16 Aug 2025

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout our stay. The accommodation was ok but very outdated. We were fully self catering yet had no oven. The only restaurant onsite was a small bar selling light lunches and snacks, disappointed that it closed at 5pm, which meant there was nowhere to buy a drink or ice cream after that time. Such a shame: this definitely requires improvement for a self catering holiday. It is a very secluded resort, with only a handful of restaurants with about a 15 minute walk away. We took a taxi 3 of the nights, into Arenal d’en Castell, as it’s only a 7 minute taxi ride, with a wide choice of restaurants with more atmosphere. That said, the pools were great and the beach was lovely (10 minute walk away). Although we had a nice holiday, We definitely wont be returning here.

    Plays Parc apartments

    rating01 Aug 2025

We are just back from a 7 night stay at Playa Parc as a family of 5. We booked as a last minute holiday and to be honest was one of the cheapest deals we could get for a family of 5. I knew when booking it wasn’t going to be luxury, closer to the holiday panic sets in and when I start looking for reviews of this hotel I come across a view poor reviews. I did email the hotel my concerns and got a reply that eased my anxiety. When we arrived we were met by a lovely cheery receptionist and once again she put my concerns at ease. Our room was a ground floor garden view, yes it was out of date decor but very spacious, with two double rooms, a living area with a pull out bed and sofa bed, a kitchen with kettle, toaster, microwave, a two ring hob and all the utensils you need. A bathroom with bath and overhead shower and hair dryer. The beds and pillows were really comfortable and the apartment has air conditioning at no extra cost. The pool area didn’t open until 10am and there was never any rush for sun loungers. The hotel also had a mini play park, a pool table and table tennis. As quests you can use the facilities at their sister hotel Sol parc, with a walkway to the beautiful beach from this hotel and it also has a mini supermarket. This hotel had evening entertainment for children but was in Spanish and French. The resort itself is extremely quiet with only a handful of restaurants and one other small supermarket on the Main Street. We ate in Alexanca restaurant 6 nights out of 7, it had a mini play area for kids, the food was lovely and staff very friendly. We will definitely be back to Menorca and Playa Parc but next time we will hire a car to visit more of the beautiful island.

Beautiful location, average/ dated accommodation. Not up to a TUI standard.

Beautiful location, average/dated accommodation.Spent 4 days here. Paid extra for a pool view but not given one. They (the staff were helpful) did offer to rectify the next day but actually was preferable without. Rooms very dated and in need of refurbishment, balcony door wasn't secure, though a safe in room was available. Breakfast across at the hotel was extremely busy. Big queues just to get in to the school canteen like food hall. Some of the food though was great (we were breakfast only). Pool at hotel area was nice, set in pine forest. Beach was beautiful, easy to get to and 'secret cove' was well worth the walk. Lack of options in the evening for eating out if not all inclusive, but the bar/ restaurant overlooking the main beach was great (went every night). Went with TUI, accommodation not really up to scratch and lip service only paid when I raised issues on return.

    Autumn unwind in rural Menorca

    rating03 Oct 2024

The apartments are very clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and plenty of clean towels. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Very quiet so had the pool to myself most days. Not heated but okay for a swim. The sea was still warm ish as well. Great that you can use the facilities at 3 hotels in Son Parc. Son Parc is a very quiet area with a beautiful beach and stunning views. A few supermarkets & a chemist but only a couple of restaurants. Had to go to Arenal d’en Castell for more choice. Unbeknown to me a lot of shops & restaurants in Menorca shut once the holiday season ends
