Location

This appealing hotel is situated in the centre of Mondariz-Balneario in a charming green valley region through which the River Tea flows. Restaurants and bars are to be found around 200m away. Vigo airport lies around 25 km from the hotel. The A 52 motorway is situated close to the hotel, Vigo lies 30 km away, Tuca 35 km away, whilst Pontevedra is 40 km from the hotel. Santiago de Compostela is about 90 km away. Oporto is about 130 km away and La Coruña lies roughly 150 km from the hotel.

Facility

6 suites and 188 double rooms are available to guests in a 3-storey main building and a 4-storey auxiliary building. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day.     THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I FEEL SCAMMED!

    HOTEL IN POOR CONDITION WITH MISLEADING SPA POLICIESROOM CONDITIONThe rooms are old and poorly maintained. The wooden floors are heavily scratched, skirting boards are swollen and coming away from the walls, and the mirrors show clear deterioration with black spots where the reflective coating is peeling (see photos).BEDDINGThe bed was made with only two sheets and no duvet, which is typical for summer, not winter. When I asked for a duvet, staff laughed and said they only had very old blankets. The blanket was very dusty and caused my husband nasal irritation.HEATING / TEMPERATUREThe room heating was insufficient. Despite staff checking the system and saying it was working correctly, the room remained so cold that we could not remove our jackets. We were travelling with a 4-year-old child who was uncomfortable and unable to play due to the cold. A portable heater was provided and left on overnight and throughout the next day, but it was still not enough to warm the room.CLEANLINESSThe room was not properly cleaned. There were spider webs and visible mould in the room and bathroom (see photos). The bathroom heater was also covered in rust.STAFF COMMUNICATIONStaff were not rude, but not particularly welcoming. The receptionist did not speak English, which made it difficult to communicate issues.BREAKFAST SERVICEBreakfast was acceptable but limited in choice. The breakfast area was clearly understaffed, with staff visibly overwhelmed. I had to request gluten-free options three times before receiving them.SPA ACCESS & COSTSSpa access is very limited and poorly explained. Only one session is included, and only for adults. A child is charged €30 for a 2-hour session. Multiple visits require paying €30 each time, meaning three visits would cost €90. This was not clearly communicated at the time of booking.SPA WATER TEMPERATUREThe spa pool water was below body temperature. It was colder than my gym’s pool (approximately 36°C). Guests were visibly shivering and staying near the areas where warm water enters the pool because the rest of the pool was too cold. Although our session was for two hours, I could only stay in the water for one hour due to the temperature.OVERALL EXPERIENCEWhile the staff were polite, the condition of the hotel, lack of comfort, and misleading spa policies do not justify the price. We would not return.

    The staff on reception are h welcoming. At this hotel, you are just another number through the door. Within the main spa area staff are rude and unhelpful. If you are going to this place for a full spa experience you will be disappointed. Unwelcoming and unfriendly staff.

    This hotel is really only worth visiting to use the spa very disappointed with the room, as very bear and uninteresting, rooms in definite need of a refurbthey advertise an Italian restaurant but we went mid week, and they failed to put on the information that is only open weekends! Had breakfast and pretty awful, cold cooked offering, so didn't bother with the 30.00 euro a head buffet dinner!Mondariz itself is a ghost town at this time of the year,1 restaurant open and a bar!so no decent food available !

    Spa booking, no English skills, Poor customer service

    The spa needs to be booked, but it is advised to call them, noone speaks English and admin team does not care to help. I am not sure how it will end as have escalated it by email no answer yet and have been asking for a month to get it booked as it is included in the package. Disappointing service for the hotel like this to treat customers in a poor manner.I can show the manager all responses I had from their team.

    Used the spa . Very atmospheric. Rather confusing as to whether this spa across the road is part of tge hotel or not. Town very pretty. Rated in an international travel magazine as the best in Spain.
