    Good pool, within walking distance of Portonovo centre

    We had a nice 3rd floor room with a corner window and view over the bay, in this clean and well managed modern hotel. The wifi signal was good. They have a secure car park round the back (no charge) and there's also free parking on the street outside. The breakfast was mediocre and not cheap, so we went out for breakfast after the first day. Hotel staff are helpful and friendly.The pool, which is across the road, is a real strength. It's a reasonable size and private, with plenty loungers and a bar serving drinks and snacks; much better than the beach!. The beach is only a short walk and lovely to look at, but we found the sea too cold in early July and the only beach bar is nothing special and was crowded.In the evening it's only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Portonovo, an unassuming, friendly place where there are lots of bars and restaurants, including some with very good seafood (as you would expect here). The shortest route involves turning right up a side street, then along through a network of old narrow streets and passageways, until you emerge down steep lanes to the harbour.

    This hotel is in a really beautiful location, directly opposite the beach. The room is a good size, as is the balcony. The hotel is very well run by Emma and her team, and her husband, who is the chef is worth traveling for. The test of a good holiday and hotel, is if you plan to return again. We do!

    We liked it so much that we cancelled somewhere else so we could spend another night. It's a 5 minute walk to a lovely Blue flagged sandy beach with a decent beach bar. The hotel pool is well maintained, fresh water and has a well stocked bar. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection. Our room was nicely furnished with a clean bathroom. Only downside was that aircon was noisy. Wifi was strong throughout an could even reach some areas around the pool.The pool is across a busy road but it's secure and not overlooked by any buildings so benefits from sun all day and in to the evening. Bonus!

    Lovely hotel in hidden area with excellent golf course

    Very friendly hotel with great golf course surrounding it. Staff extremely welcoming and pleased to see us. Quiet inoff seaon which is just what we wanted. Very picturesque golf course using all features of the water inlets and trees. Testing but not too difficult.

    Portonovo & the nearby Sanxenxo are almost totally a Spanish Resort.. But that should not stop Non-Spanish speaking people off visiting this wonderful place.. It has everything anyone could want.. great restaurants and a night-life without an equal.. everything is here if you look.. and the Hotel Canelas is a very good hotel as a base to explore the area.. situated on the outskirts of Portonovo.. Its a short walk from the lovely Canelas Beach (Blue Flag) and the town of Portonova itself.. the Hotel is a little Gem with the most attentive staff of any hotel i've stayed in.. the rooms and communal areas are excellent and cleaned daily to a very high standard.. We stayed on a Half Board package and opted for breakfast and lunch most days.. the breakfast was very good with all the normal items.. the lunch offered a seletion of local dishes which were well cooked & presented.. the staff in the restaurant were so attentive & efficient without any faults whatsoever..The Reception staff (Day & Night) were always helpful and so Professional.. And the maid service to the rooms was second to none.. There are some things that might be a problem to some people.. 1.. The hotel's pool which while being of a very high order is situated on the other side of a quite busy main road - this wasn't a problem for us but for people with small children this should be a consideration.. 2.. The TV in the room is Totally Spanish.. an addition of just Sky Or BBC News would be Bonus.. 3.. The Wi-Fi is very hit and miss , it works ok for a day then takes 2 days off, not good and should be address by the Hotel.. I Think That I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.. do yourself a big favour and tried it.. I'am confident you won't be dissapointed..
