    Lovely building, unbelievably unfriendly staff

    rating23 May 2026

Very lovely building and great location to get to the beautiful walking trail around the sea and to the downtown area. Along with the beautiful view from our room, it made our visit pleasant . Unfortunately, I have never experienced a more sour hospitality staff in my life. The staff at the reception desk sat very low so there were not in the position to great you when you arrive or have any other interaction unless you were right at the desk looking down on them. They never stood. The staff in the dining room was the same, uninterested in providing any service. There is a lovely terrace that would be nice to enjoy a drink and dinner but the pig goin problem was so bad, that you were forced to be indoors. The furniture in the rooms could be interpreted as quaint or extremely worn. recepcion Baiona, Other at Parador de Baiona, responded to this review Dear Mr. Ekimberlynh, Firstly, thank you so much for taking your time to review and share your experience at the Parador de Baiona. Beyond words awful

    rating09 May 2026

We booked a couple paradors on our portugese Camino, as we had a lovely experience on a previous Camino. However the good days of the parador are no longer. It is totally lacking in every department. At checkin, they do not tell you one thing. The room is old and needs to be redone. We were bitten each night by mosquitos. The air con vent area is covered in dust. The bedside table and bed are chipped and disgusting. And it is the most u comfortable rock of a bed I have ever slept on.But the icing on the cake was the cafe experience the first day, after walking in the rain, on the Camino. So excited to finally be at a parador, and out incredibly rude waiter at the cafe brings me this vegetarian sandwich. You have got to be kidding me. Dry white wonder bread with beetroots, and the bottom piece so lathered in hommus and oily peppers you could not pick it up. The salad was old as were the chips. My husbands club sandwich was bacon and egg on white bread. Words can not describe. This is not worthy of a train station let alone a parador.I did not touch mine and refused to pay. This hotel is relying on a name.however word is getting out that you need to do more. Than rest on your laurels.I will not be returning. Over $550 per night for a 3 star room, and food you would not feed your dog. recepcion Baiona, Other at Parador de Baiona, responded to this review Dear guest, Thank you very much for reviewing and commenting on your stay at the Parador de Baiona. Parador brand is owned by the Spanish govt., A way to preserve the beautiful castle/ fortress of Spain and in this case, castle of Conde de Gondomar. From the outside , it is a proper castle/ fortress right next to the seaside resort town of Baiona, Spain. Inside is a beautiful luxury hotel . Spacious rooms, modern amenities. Many hiking trails along the walls and around the castle. recepcion Baiona, Other at Parador de Baiona, responded to this review Dear Mr. Woodcliffmom,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your stay at Parador de Baiona. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your experience, as well as the surroundings, services, and facilities of the Parador. We look forward to welcoming you again on a future occasion.Kind regards,Parador de Baiona.

    “OK but not great”

    rating08 Jan 2026

Some Paradors are housed in buildings where the public and private rooms reflect their histories. In others, as was the case of the Parador de Baiona, the buildings themselves are not historic but are the hotel is housed in relative modern buildings. The Parador is situated on its own peninsula, surrounded by fortress ramparts with stunning sea views. The large hotel, 120+ bedrooms, is housed in a rambling building, the walk to our bedroom took a few minutes but it is spacious. Overall, the interior of the Parador felt dated. However, it is well maintained and appeared clean. Our bedroom was of a reasonable size and had a good view of the Atlantic and coastline.A walk to the centre of town takes about 30 minutes. Car parking, although free, can be a hassle especially at the weekend. Checking into reception was very, very slow. The dinner service on most nights seemed to be having difficulty keeping up with demand.Unlike other Paradors that we have stayed in, it felt busy with guests everywhere and on occasions noisy. Lastly, there was a disconnect between the coast of our stay and the overall quality. In other words, it is overpriced and lets the Parador brand down. recepcion Baiona, Other at Parador de Baiona, responded to this review Dear Mr. Mark, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your stay at the Parador de Baiona. We appreciate your thoughtful observations and the opportunity to reflect on your experience. As you correctly noted, while some Paradors are located in historic buildings, others—such as the Parador de Baiona—are housed in more modern structures. Its unique location on a private peninsula, surrounded by fortress ramparts and offering exceptional sea views, is certainly one of its most distinctive features. We regret to learn that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. In particular, we acknowledge your comments regarding the dated interior, the distance within the property, and the challenges encountered during check-in and dinner service. We also recognize that parking availability during busy periods may have caused inconvenience, for which we sincerely apologize.Thank you once again for your constructive feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future and to provide an experience more in line with your expectations.Best regards, Parador de Baiona
