Quirky hotel- lovely views and location but little service

    rating30 Jun 2025

First of all, La Orotava is a charming historic town definitely worth a stay of 2 or more days and The Rural Victoria is in the center but uphill so you get views of the town and coastline below. Both town and hotel are very romantic. We were lucky to get a rooftop room and had amazing private panoramic views. The room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was good and we had everything we needed.I would give this 5 stars but there were NO reception services! When we checked in there was a note to use the code that was emailed to us ( rooms are accessed by a keypad). We did not receive an email so we had to telephone someone to get the code. During our entire 2 night/ 3 day stay there was no one to help us with anything. We had to ask the kitchen staff for beach towels as they were the only staff we could find. I had a dental emergency and telephoned the same person who gave us the check in code, who was not helpful at all and told me to look on google for a dentist! If you want restaurant or touring suggestions or any reception services, this is not your hotel! But if you are the independent type ( and have a sense of adventure and humor) and do not need these services, this is a lovely, well located hotel.Only other complaint is that entrance to hotel and to hotel rooms is with keypads that are so old and faded, you can barely read the numbers. If they continue with the use of keypads, they need to be upgraded so they are readable.

    Great meal !

    rating04 Feb 2025

The meal we had in the restaurant was excellent - beautifully presented food! We enjoyed the salmon and entrecôte dishes. The bread at the start was free and was very tasty with local dips and a sweet treat. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The local beer and wine were appreciated too !

A great choice when in La Orotava

    rating29 Dec 2023

Found this on Booking.com, and it was our first nights stay in Tenerife. While it is steeply uphill when coming from the bus station (take a taxi!), it is so convenient to the old part of the city which made it worthwhile . Although it had remote check-in and we arrived about an hour early, the delightful maid saw that we could access our room. The rooms are spacious and charming and have everything one could need. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

    Looking rather tired

    rating20 Jun 2023

This is an attractive, old fashioned property. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. Our room was a reasonable size & had the benefit of a large terrace, with a couple of sun loungers and a table & chairs. However, the rooms are in need of an upgrade. The bathroom looked unchanged from the 1970s & the carpet was very tired, although the bed was comfortable enough. The breakfast was very poor - a derisory buffet, plus some over-cooked eggs. However, we had dinner there and the food, while not cheap, was excellent, with good service as well

A perfect little boutique hotel in the centre of the old town

    rating21 Mar 2022

This is a charming traditional colonial house built round a courtyard which has been glassed over to create a lovely breakfast room. Our room on the third floor was a little small but comfortable and with a nice spacious bathroom, I think the second floor rooms are better if a little dearer. On the plus side it opened out on to the roof terrace which had a marvellous view of Teide (cloud permitting) in one direction, and over the town to the sea in the other. Magical at night. The breakfasts are excellent: a choice of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, eggs done in a variety of ways, bacon or ham. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our only criticisms are that the wifi is very patchy but we did manage to find a corner on the landing with a couple of chairs right next to the router. Although the hotel advertises free parking on site (not reservable) it has only 3 spaces for 14 rooms so it is not always easy to get a slot. There is street parking too but few spaces. On one occasion we had to park overnight in the public car park about 10 minutes walk away. Excellent value.
