Not a hotel experience – more like a self-service dormitory

    rating04 Apr 2026

Villan is best described as a remotely operated dormitory rather than a hotel. The main issue is the near-complete absence of staff and basic hotel services, which significantly impacts the overall experience.Breakfast is technically included, but it is very basic (bread, ham, eggs, cheese, yoghurt/muesli). That could be acceptable given the lower price point—if it were consistent. Unfortunately, it is not. The selection varies unpredictably from day to day (e.g. sausages one day, none the next; yoghurt available one morning, missing the next), with no clear standard.Service during breakfast was also disappointing. One staff member appeared to handle everything, and requests for refills were met with irritation and, at times, a dismissive attitude. This creates an atmosphere where guests hesitate to ask for basic things. The rooms themselves are acceptable. However, families with small children should be aware that windows on upper floors can open fully and do not have safety restrictors, which may pose a risk.On the positive side, the location is convenient, with expensive street parking available nearby. There is also a very good restaurant in the same building (not part of the hotel), which is a clear plus.Overall, if you expect even a modest level of service and consistency - or a genuine Swedish/Scandinavian experience, this place will likely disappoint.

    Worn out and unclean hotel

    rating27 Jul 2025

It seems the management doesn't care about this place. It's a shame as one can see this used to be a very nice place. Now it's pretty horrible. Pictures must be from 10yrs ago, definetely outdated. Room is really worn out and not cleaned properly. Towels are old and thin, one of them had stains. Carpets and curtains in the room had big stains and dust in the surfaces. Corridor hasn't been hoovered in weeks. No service in the reception. I wouldn't stay here ever again!

No way is this a 4 star.. dreadful

    rating27 Aug 2024

The good A lovely lady who appears to be the only member of staff at this hotel, as it’s not manned!!! She seems to do every job and is rung ragged, such a lovely women and she prepared a lovely breakfast! She deserves a medal. The badWhere do we start. Mold in the showerToilet seat broken Part of what should have been a larger wardrobeA family room that isn’t a family room but clearly a double room with a single bed in that you couldn’t swing a cat in. An extremely hard metal fire door that trapped our daughter in upon exiting the roomBedroom windows that open so wide that small children are at risk staying at the property, especially if not on the ground floor. Linen weren’t the cleanest The hotel looked tired, worn and was unhoovered and messy upon arrival. The UglyWe had a 7 day booking as we visited g’berg due to the Gothia cup… we last 1 night and had a battle and a half to recoup the remaining booking payment back. Booking.com were hopeless in helping and at times hindered the matter, in the end I had to go to my bank and register a dispute payment claim for the difference. Eriksberg is a lovely part of g’berg but there are much better hotels with better facilities for not much more money. Look around is our advice.

    Avoid this hotel!

    rating09 Jun 2024

Avoid this hotel! Info says no in reception after 21.00 but there is rarely any staff at all after lunchtime. At check-in my room was not cleaned and had used sheets, and no staff at the hotel - so this could not be solved. Had to take another hotel but got no refund. This was once a 4-star hotel but is now worn down. Avoid.
