Good overnight stay, maybe not for much longer though.

I had a night here last month. Check in was at the Euler around the corner as I arrived after 22:30. This was quick and efficient. My 7th floor room was clean and spacious, if a tad on the warm side. Breakfast was ok but glad I only had to endure it one morning. All in all, a solid choice.

    Ok hotel

This is an unusual place. The same company owns three adjacent hotels: Metropol, City Inn, and Grand Hotel Euler. They are all connected internally. We had a reservation at Metropol and arrived before 9 am to find no one at its front desk. It took us a while to figure out that check-in was actually at the Euler whose entrance was around the corner.Further, it is difficult to access any of these hotels with luggage as no entrance was baggage friendly--they all had steps--some more than others. In the afternoon our room got warm and after searching the room for a thermostat, I called the front desk to learn that there was no way for us to control the room's temperature. There was only one heating/cooling setting for the entire building. So, I opened the window. The problem was that allowed back alley noise into the room.Still, the hotel is very close to the Central Station and all tram lines.

A nice and quiet hotel very close to the railway station

In Basel, we were also able to spend only one night, and we booked this hotel! We were very satisfied with our short stay. We had a large room with comfortable beds. We also had a good self-service breakfast. We were able to choose from a variety of choices. The bonus was the nice view of Basel, as the breakfast hall was on the top floor of the building.

    Location good, Beware of stairs

We liked the location beside the train station and eateries and the transit pass for tourists was a nice surprise. Be prepared to climb steps with your luggage. Our room had no airconditioning and we managed to get by because the sun was not directly hitting our room. Our friends on the the other hand, had to complain twice that their room was stifling hot to get switched to a cooler room.

Very kind and helpful staff. Nice spacious room. Breakfast is at the rooftop with beautiful views. They were able to provide celiac-safe gluten free breakfast: a nice selection of items brought straight from the kitchen, including gluten free bread.
