The stylish hotel is located in the heart of Basel, right by SBB train station, where guests are able to catch a direct bus to the airport in 20 minutes. The cultural centre of the old part of Basel is five minutes' walk away. Public transport is located in front of the hotel.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1898. The hotel has 107 non-smoking rooms, including 46 single rooms, which are located on 6 storeys and are reachable by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. There are a number of shops as well. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park.     Great base hotel

    We went to Basel for a few days with our teenage boys. Hotel was great location wise. You can get a bus free from the airport and it drops you outside the train station which is opposite the hotel.We had a good sized family room, clean and modern . The hotel gave us a pass which gets you 50% off museums and the zoo and also free tram travel.Breakfast was included and was a really good choice. While there the tourist centre at the train station helped us plan a trip to the Rhine Falls which was so easy to do with their help. Well worth the trip. Food wise I would suggest the Markthalle food market, walking distance from the hotel and we could each choose different cuisines we liked and then find a table together.     Hotel is secured and need to tap in after certain timing during peak period. Hotel has wonderful beds and is quiet and can give us a restful holiday. Hotel is also near convenience store and fast food restaurants. The hotel’s restaurant is also staffed with wonderful staff who offer hospitable services and make our stay a pleasant one.     I would like to talk to you about one of your employees,at the reception whose name is Rasid.I qm a tour leader ,and I was there with group of tourists.I travel all my life going from hotel to hotel,but I never met somebody being so professional,so efficient,so kind and friendly.It seemed there was a problem with reservation system,we were missing one room ,not hotel's fault at all.Though he realised that it was third's part mistake and responsibility,he did impossible trying to find a solution ,more than an hour,he was on the phone ,checking the system...and he helped me get the room for my guests.Not to mention,that hotel is very good ,clean ,breakfast sensetional!I do hope that the management of the hotel is aware of the quality of their employee Rasid.     Exceptional Staff

    I am mainly writing this review to thank the front desk staff for their kindness and help. Especially Azul who walked me to the train station with my puppy and waited with me until the train arrived. It was an overnight sleeper that left quite late. I was uneasy being in the train station so late and had a large bag and puppy in tow. She invested about an hour of her time to see that I got safely on the train. The room was adequate but felt quite dated and was a huge walking distance from the lobby - a bit too much for me. But generally can recommend this hotel for its convenience and exceptional staff.     We picked this hotel as the airport bus is right outside the hotel and we were not disappointed. Check in was very easy and we got a lovely upgrade, thank you so much. The lobby is gorgeous and the room was lovely as well, in fact a very comfortable room. I was concerned about the noise of the trams, however it did not disturb our sleep at all. Unfortunately our flight was changed to the early hours so we had to leave at 4.30am, however again check out very easy. The staff at reception were lovely. Good base to explore the city. Would I recommend, of course, we cannot fault the hotel at all, just wish we could have stayed longer.
