Free Tram ~ Walkable area ~ Excellent Hotel

    rating20 Dec 2025

We stay here for 3 nights in room 617 after disembarking a cruise. Room was large and very nice decor.Breakfast was included and many options available. I had an omelet cooked each morning as wellTram stop located outside hotel which is free for tourists and took us to the Christmas Markets which was the purpose of our stay. Supermarket also located very close to hotel which also had a pharmacy. Very walkable area.My only complaint was we disembarked our cruise a 9:30 on a Sunday morning. Check-in was not until 3:00pm. It was a wet day, no shops are open in Switzerland on a Sunday and Markets didn't open until 11:00. We spent most of our day in the foyer of the hotel waiting for our room to be ready. Room still wasn't ready at 3:30pm As this was a preferred hotel of Scenic/Emerald Cruises we thought we would have priority to access our room early. We spoke to management and although they were apologetic and offered a bottle of wine it still was upsetting. In hindsight If I had known better I would have booked the night before as well so we could have accessed our room as soon as we arrived, however at $570AUD per night this would be a large extra cost.We stay here again for the tram and central location. Nicolas Rimelin, General Manager at Pullman Hotel Europe Basel, responded to this review Dear allthingsclassy,Thank you for the great review of our hotel! I am sorry to hear that it took awhile for you to get into your room.We always strive to get the rooms cleaned as quickly as possible, while still making sure the standards are being upheld. Unfortunately on the day you were checking in we had been fully booked the night before and had no rooms available when you arrived. You are correct that the only way to guarantee the room will be ready during one of the busiest times of the year is to reserve the night before, alternatively you can contact us to let us know your arrival time as early as possible, although not guaranteed it does make it possible for us to plan so that it increases the chances of getting a room ready for you earlier. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon.Sincerely,Fraser CurrieFront Office Manager

    Efficient, well located

    rating11 Dec 2025

Well, it’s Swiss. That means well designed, ultra efficient and ultra clean. Nice modern rooms with a very efficient shower. Bar food limited but decent (I believe there is a restaurant with a wider choice as well). Two niggles- street side rooms may have quite a lot of tram noise so if that disturbs you try and find a room away from that side. The upside of course is that you are extremely well connected in terms of transport. And it was great they had a socket board with U.K. plus but because of the wooden flap on it actually quite difficult to get the plug in. Otherwise, all good. Nicolas Rimelin, General Manager at Pullman Hotel Europe Basel, responded to this review Dear Sheenite,Thank you for the great review of our hotel! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon.Sincerely,Fraser CurrieFront Office Manager

    I would not recommend.

    rating01 Dec 2025

The hotel is nice enough..nice decor, bed was comfy and friendly staff. However the hotel outlines that they do not have a ‘traditional air con system’. This means they set the temperature and you can only adjust slightly. However we found by changing the thermostat it made no difference at all as no air came out of the vents. This meant the room was constantly warm and stuffy with no ventilation. To sort this we had to leave the window open all night. As we were on the street side there is trams running most of the time and also some pubs/nightclub beside the hotel to add to the noise. Then in the early morning you had the joy of listening to delivery vans and road sweepers. Also to note, after we booked we read similar reviews and we contacted the hotel to ask for a quiet room…so don’t rely on their good well as it never worked for us. Don’t waste your money like we did and book somewhere else! Nicolas Rimelin, General Manager at Pullman Hotel Europe Basel, responded to this review Dear Stacy_900,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. Traditional Air Conditioning is highly restricted, by law, in Switzerland due to it massive negative environmental impact. Therefore we have a version that does not impact the environment. With this system there is no blowing air, like with the traditional loud and unhealthy versions. Therefore you do not feel wind when it is cooling down. The downside is that it takes longer to cool the room down. There is ventilation in every room. The vent in the room is the ventilation and not the "A/C" and it constantly circulates fresh air.All our windows are soundproofed to the highest level possible, so what we recommend to people when they come to speak to us is to leave their key in the holder when they go out (with the windows closed) then the room will cool down whilst the are out and they no longer need to open the windows. Unfortunately, like with every city hotel worldwide, there will always be city noises. I can fully understand it being too loud if you have the window open though. We do everything possible to grant all requests for each and every guest. However, it is not always possible and I regret that this was the case when you were staying with us. That being said, we have made a note of this on your account with the company in an attempt to be able to grant you your request next time.We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of.Sincerely,Your Pullman Basel Europe Team

Decent Rooms, but Tech and Gym Need Work

    rating22 Nov 2025

The Pullman is a nice hotel with friendly staff and comfortable rooms, and the beef filet on the dinner menu is excellent. Still, there are a couple of areas where it could improve compared with other Basel hotels in the same price range.First, the in-room TVs. For a modern 4-star hotel, it’s surprising that they still don’t support streaming from mobile devices. What’s more frustrating is that the TV menus offer the option to connect devices, but the feature doesn’t work—something staff confirmed again during this stay. I raised this issue back in early summer 2024, so it’s disappointing to see no progress more than a year later.Second, the gym setup. While the selection of weights is good, there’s only one bench despite there being plenty of space for another. Most comparable hotels in Basel offer at least two benches, and adding one would make a noticeable difference. These are relatively small improvements, but they would significantly elevate the overall guest experience. Nicolas Rimelin, Other at Pullman Hotel Europe Basel, responded to this review Dear TriGuy1,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We have the upgrade of the TV system planned, but unfortunately it takes time.I have passed on your feedback about the gym. Thank you for that.We hope to welcome you back to our hotel very soon!Sincerely,Fraser CurrieFront Office Manager

    A nice stay in Basel

    rating29 Sept 2025

Seemed the younger staff were overall friendlier and more accommodating in this hotel. Glad we bumped into one during check in and we got a room overseeing the inner courtyard. It was quiet, clean and spacious. There was a supermarket downstairs. However, breakfast was a bit disappointing. We arrived at 9-ish but there were little watery cut fruits left and not to be refilled anymore. No egg benedict option to order.Overall, a good stay in Basel but breakfast could be skipped. Nicolas Rimelin, General Manager at Pullman Hotel Europe Basel, responded to this review Dear Wander,Thank you for the great review of our hotel! I am sorry to read about your breakfast experience. This is not our normal standard.I have forwarded your feedback to our breakfast team. Thank you for letting me know.We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon.Sincerely,Fraser CurrieFront Office Manager
