    Lovely room with view over greenery. Very convenient from station, as right next to a metro stop (without being too noisy). Helpful reception.

    Great Hotel except for carpets

    This is a really good hotel and has many pluses. The front desk is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are comfortable with a good-sized bathroom. It is right next to the subway station so extremely easy to get around Lausanne. Even though its next to the station, we didn't hear the subway unless our balcony door was opened. Breakfast is available and has a good selection of items. However, the one thing that lowered my rating is that the carpets are very dirty. I did mention this to the front desk and she definitely acknowledged the issue and said they will be replacing them. I would consider the Carlton again but would want to know if the carpet has been replaced.

    Stayed here two nights as part of a small group tour in Switzerland. Is a very nice property, furnished elegantly throughout the hotel. The room was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable, and air conditioning worked well (which was needed as it was unusually warm). Breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from and they served you whatever type of coffee you wanted. All the staff I interacted with were pleasant and helpful. Located right next to a transit stop on their "metro", which is helpful given how steep the main street is. Definitely a quality hotel.

    Petty charges after departure

    The hotel was in a great location, with lovely rooms and accommodating staff. Our only problem was that after a four-day stay, we handed both our room keys to the hotel staff and asked if we had any further charges due. We were told that all was fine. We assumed that meant that no more charges were due. When reviewing my credit card charges a few days after our return home, I noticed a $56.55 unauthorized charge from the hotel on my card. When I contacted the hotel, they stated it was for an unreturned key and city tax. The city tax I can forgive although they had four days that they could have mentioned or taken care of that during our stay, but to randomly add a key charge was petty and not necessary. While the hotel now agrees that they owe me a refund for the room key charge, I cannot resolve this because they evidently can only charge/credit my card on the same day of departure. After two weeks in Switzerland, this is the only hotel with which we had any issues. If you stay with them, make sure you pay your city tax and verify your room key return before you leave.
