    Great Location and view

    rating31 May 2026

The location is excellent. The rooms are good enough for people like us who are not after luxury. The balcony has a very nice view for those who have rooms looking to the lake. The receptionists all were cooperative but our special thanks goes to Diana who answered all our questions in every detail.

Traditional charm in a great location

    rating25 May 2026

Lots of good things to say about this lakeside hotel in the bustling centre of Montreux. Positives:- great views of the lake and mountains from our room- every lake side room has a balcony- good tV, comfy bed, fridge- lots of great practical touches in the room, a towel rail each, coat hooks, usb socket, shelf for toiletry bags, good a/c- card for free public transport- historic styling and charm. Gripes:- single use plastic toiletries- no tea and coffee making facilities or mini bar- no decent decaff coffee at breakfast (I have found that the Swiss don’t really do decaff)

    A Soulless experience

    rating21 May 2026

This SHOULD have been good but the hotel lacks what I refer to as soul. Soul is when a hotel makes a guest feel special, when the staff seem to enjoy their jobs and are welcoming to guests, where issues don’t become issues because little details are taken care. The hotel sits on a beautiful location but the first impression is no bellman and stairs at the entrance so you have to carry your luggage up those stairs. Then you have the joy of dealing with the most unfriendly and inhospitable front desk manager who tell you your room doesn’t face the lake and you can get a lake facing room for 80 CF per night (wait isn’t au lac in the title and shouldn’t that have been noted on the confirmation). Then for breakfast, a beautiful room but no cooked options and coffee from a machine that’s bland. Then you go out, come back at 4:00 pm to find that the room hasn’t been made yet. Then you checkout and they don’t offer to help you with your bags. Like I said - soulless Eden Palace, General Manager at Hotel Eden Palace Au Lac, responded to this review Dear Sir,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback regarding your stay at Hôtel Eden Palace au Lac. We are sincerely sorry to learn that your experience did not fully meet your expectations. Our hotel is a historic Belle Époque property, appreciated by many guests for its charm, character and unique lakeside location. We understand however that this atmosphere must always be accompanied by attentive and warm service, and we regret that you did not feel this during your stay.Regarding luggage assistance, our porters and reception team remain available to assist our guests whenever needed. We are sorry if this was not clearly communicated upon your arrival or departure. Concerning room categories, lake view rooms are indeed part of a separate category and are subject to availability, although we understand your disappointment and appreciate your remark regarding the clarity of this information during booking. We also regret the delay in housekeeping service as well as the aspects of breakfast that did not meet your expectations. Your comments have been carefully shared with the concerned departments, as guest feedback is essential in helping us improve the overall experience we strive to provide. While we are saddened to read that your impression of the hotel lacked the warmth and attention you expected, we nevertheless thank you for highlighting the beauty of our location and hope that we may one day have the opportunity to offer you a more positive experience.Kind regards,Titouan RIVAT, Front Desk Manager

A nice average bit outdated hotel in a good location..nice staff

    rating26 Mar 2026

I stayed for three nights in March for a business retreat. It is a nice hotel a bit outdated and bathrooms need updating...feels 1980'sThe breakfast was okay and not often refreshed. The lunches were good. The restaurant staff was very friendly and helpfulIt is in a good location and my room had nice scenic views of the lake.Would stay again but if necessary or for budget...not my first pick
