A place to enjoy and relax

    rating02 Sept 2019

It is a very beautiful area with an old wooden bridge (well rebuild) and several very old farming houses kept in almost original condition. In the Restaurant, you can choose from a variety of very traditional fine dishes and for dessert try the traditional "Merängge" with homemade wiped cream and icecream. It is very relaxing, peaceful and a lot of fresch air. You can also go for a walk in the area for 30 min up to several hours. Kemmeriboden-Bad, Inhaber at Hotel Kemmeriboden-Bad, responded to this review Dear Rolf BThank you very much for your feedback! We are very pleased to hear you were delighted with the old farming houses, the wooden bridge and the many opportunities for hiking, the choice of food and the famous legendary Kemmeriboden-Merängge. We wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon!Your family Invernizzi and the Kemmeriboden-Team

Lessons on Life Through A Meringue

    rating12 Aug 2019

Through an 8-day trip to Switzerland, we stayed at 6 different hotels including the Hotel Kemmeriboden-Bad. Among these, the KBB was a stand-out and quite memorable. This was a true “find”, and if you are a hiker/nature lover, this should certainly be considered as a major stop on a trip through the Bern/Schangnau area. What is instantly noticeable upon arrival – lots of hikers in bright colored, super-technical hiking gear. Second, fewer foreigners. This is where the Swiss go to vacay!Note the restaurant menu. It’s in German. Period. Not French, Italian, Romanche. Let alone English. Yet, there was a waitress (I am kicking myself for not remembering her name) who was super helpful. She went over the menu with me and explained it to me in English for about 20 minutes prior to our dinner reservation. Another waitress (again I cannot remember her name) provided a supplemental explanation during dinner itself. I ended up ordering the “Berner Teller” which was a heap of different meats and vegetables. Very filling, very large portion… My son had the pork, which looked delicious. The place appears to be known for their meringues, all of their desserts are really scrumptious. Haven’t used that word in a while. The rooms are quite spacious and we appreciated the second bed in our room. There were extra USB ports available which allowed us to recharge phones without having to use AC adapters – very nice. The bedding was also quiet good. The material was quite unique and made for some great rest. A very minor minus was the fact that they had no real toiletries - just a dispenser providing all-purpose liquid for shampoo and shower. Not a fan of this. This hotel is a haven, a resting place and magnet for hikers. We are no means pros and we were able to enjoy a nice walk along the river as well as a morning hike very close by.It would be fair to say that we got a glimpse of what “Summer in Switzerland” is by staying here. It’s nature, it's about soaring mountains and crisp weather. It’s hearty and good, simple food. It's a path strewn with metal sculptures made by people who love to collect and do not throw things away. And life is enriched when you have good meringue and locally made ice cream. Kemmeriboden-Bad, Inhaber at Hotel Kemmeriboden-Bad, responded to this review Dear Mohammedyu,We thank you for your heart-warming review in detail. We are really glad to hear, that you enjoyed your stay at Kemmeriboden-Bad and our nearby region. We do have restaurant menus in German and French. We are sorry for not offering the French one. We hope that our waitress gave you a useful explanation in English. As you had our “Berner Teller”, you had a real Swiss-experience. The meal with the different meats and vegetables has been famous in our region for a long time. Thanks a lot for giving us such a helpful, nice and friendly feedback. We are really sorry that you didn’t find the expected toiletries. We do have a Kemmeriboden-beauty-line with e.g. different baths or a bodymilk with ingredients of our region. We wish you all the best an hope to see you soon again!Your family Invernizzi and the Kemmeriboden-Team

    Gem in a stunning setting

    rating30 Apr 2019

The hotel is set at the end of an isolated valley in Emmental and offers great accommodation, stunning food and really helpful staff. The location is wonderful with a variety of walks, cycle trails and even Langlauf in the winter. The whole area feels very unspoilt which cannot be said about how you will feel as the staff in the hotel will make you feel very spoilt indeed. Beautiful attention to detail marks this hotel out as a great place to stay, our room was beautifully appointed and even had a piano. We recently visited to celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary and were made to feel very special indeed. The food is about the best we have had in Switzerland and most of it is locally sourced with great information about the various suppliers forming an integral part of the decor in the innovative displays around the hotel. We will certainly be back and cannot recommend this highly enough.
