Location

Located along a main road at the heart of Grindelwald, this stylish hotel is located within walking distance of the famous Eiger. Links to the mountain train and shopping opportunities lies close to the hotel and links to the public transport network are located out front.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1899. The hotel has 42 rooms, including 11 suites, 4 single rooms and 25 double rooms, which are located on 5 storeys and are reachable by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. A number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. There is also a playground for younger guests. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand, a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, room service, a laundry service, a hairdresser, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. Cyclists can make use of the bicycle storage area and hire service. Complimentary newspapers are available. A business centre with fax machine and projector is available.

Rooms

Rooms include air conditioning, central heating and a fan. Guests can relax on the balcony or terrace. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed, a queen-size bed, a king-size bed or a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a refrigerator included among the standard features. Further amenities include an ironing set and a trouser press. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Guests will also find slippers in their rooms. A shower and a bathtub are included the bathrooms. A hairdryer, bathrobes and a telephone are available for daily use. Cosmetic products and a selection of towels provide additional comfort in the bathrooms. Hotel has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

Sport

The indoor and outdoor pools are ideal for exercise as well as relaxation. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. The hot tub in the pool area promises pure relaxation. Hotel offers an extensive outdoor sports programme, including cycling/mountain biking, tennis, crazy golf, golf, fishing and horse riding. With windsurfing, canoeing, snorkelling and diving available, fans of water sports will have plenty to choose from. The surroundings of the hotel offer an ideal environment for skiing. Sport and leisure facilities the hotel include a gym, squash and aerobics. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, a beauty salon and massage treatments. Subject to charge: a solarium. Hotel offers plenty of activities and entertainment options, including an entertainment programme, a kids' club, live music and a dance club.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a non-smoking restaurant, a café and a bar. Half board can be booked. A delicious and varied buffet is prepared for breakfast every day, and a set menu can be ordered at dinner. Diet meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. Hotel also offers special catering options.

    Very nice room for a single traveler! Staff were always extremely friendly when approached or when I was in need of aid. Extremely close to the train station as well, which really helped on days when I wanted to explore the rest of the Bernese Oberland. I would definitely be willing to stay here again!

    After having spent a week (31st January to 6th February) at Hotel Kreuz & Post, we can recommend it. It is perfectly situated in Grindelwald with easy access from the train station, and the bus station (Bahnhof Grindelwald).The staff in the reception was welcoming and eager to help should we have any inquiries. The room was quite cosy, clean and proper. A good thing was that there were many electrical outlets, facilitating charging of different devices. The bathroom was in top condition. We appreciated the cleaning staff that cleaned the room and the bathroom everyday. After having spent a day on the slopes it felt good to return to the hotel and find the room in good order. There is also a very modern and nice spa on the top floor, which we enjoyed.We chose half board, which included dinner in the restaurant on the first floor. That was a real treat for us to experience since we enjoyed being served dishes that we were not always familiar with. In addition the wine list was quite extensive and we could find wines that matched the dishes. Before dinner, we went to the bar on the first floor to have a drink and listen to a piano player (Mr Grossman). He knew a very large number of songs from different countries, and eras. He contributed very much to the cool and relaxed atmosphere in the bar lounge. When continuing to the restaurant for dinner, we were welcomed by a professional and efficient restaurant staff. Both experienced but also younger persons that were very talented and charming. They were very attentive and we were impressed by the many languages they could speak, as they represented several countries and continents. We could hear them speaking German - of course - but also English, French, Spanish, Italian and others. They made us feel welcome and taken care of for every dinner, almost as if we were their personal guests.     We loved it here. Spent three nights over Christmas and it was magical. It’s a wonderful, privately owned hotel sat next to the train station and in the shadow of the Eiger and Mittelhorn. The spa is wonderful, our room was wonderful. The restaurant put on oysters and champagne on Boxing Day, Christmas Day breakfast involved prosecco.     Wonderful Hotel with amazing Team Staff

    My wife and I had the pleasure of spending 5 nights at the warm and historic Kreuz & PostHotel in beautiful Grindelwald. We have visited Switzerland from Italy on several occasions in recent years but we had been wanting to return to Grindelwald and the Bernese Oberland , having not visited since our University years. It did not disappoint despite modernization, as the Alps including Eiger, Monch and Jungrau are still as awe inspiring as we had remembered.Grindelwald and nearby Murren and Lauterbrunnen continue to, in my opinion, offer the most majestic Mountains and Mountain accessibility in all of Europes Alps.Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Sybille, Melli and Ailen who were anticipating our arrival from the nearby Grindelwald Station. We knew immediately that their genuine greeting was a reflection of the approach and values of the multigenerational ownership of the Konzett Family. Within minutes of our arrival we knew that we had chosen the right Hotel for us, one which was historic and beautiful,as well as modernized and meticulouslymaintained in the Swiss- German standard.Knowing what we love and value , we immediately added an additional night to our stay…and we had yet to fully check-in !Our Room was upgraded to an Eiger View Room with Balcony, and what a view it was. The Roomwas essentially a Suite in size and offered many comforts. The Balcony was perhaps the largest we have even had the pleasure of enjoying, spanning some 20+ feet in width and 12+ feet in depth, complete with a small tableset and a full overhead wind out canopy for warm summer days.The view of the Eiger was outstanding, gracedby Double exterior Doors which only added to its access and enjoyment.We knew that our days would be filledwith Mountain hikes, Trams and Gondola's, etcand that come days end we would enjoy the simplicity and comfort of eating at the Hotel, hence we booked the Half Board rate.The Buffet Breakfast and Dinner were both served in the beautifully appointed Main Dining Room where we ate all of our Meals throughout our Stay.The Room and table were beautifully appointed adorned with a full bank of Windows overlooking the Eiger. Taking our of meals at the Hotel was not a decision that we regretted as we enjoyed every meal that was uniquely prepared and professionally served to us. Breakfast was delicious and offered a full array of items of a high standard. The Dinners were varied and proudly prepared by the head Chef, a member of the Konzett Family, who approached us on several occasions to ensure that we were completely satisfied.Of particular mention is the outstanding Service which we received daily at both Breakfast and Dinner by Maitre de Simone and lovelyDoha who could not have been moreattentive, professional and engaging.All of this has been carefully and thoughtfullycrafted by the Konzett Family Team, clearly lead byHelena who took time to meet us over Dinner, ensuring that all aspects of our stay was perfect…and that it was.Thank you Kreuz & Post for making our long overdue visit to Grindelwald so memorableand heart warming.
