    Great for Stone Town

    A very nice historic hotel in the heart of the Stone Town. We had a lovely room overlooking the harbour. The hotel is a former mansion filled with beautiful antiques. The only let downs were the coffee at breakfast and the lack of a bar.

    Shocking Hotel facilities and customer service

    Absolute shocking customer service and hotel facilities. We pre-booked a pool-view room for a 5 night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary using Emirates Holidays. On arrival we were told the pool was unusable. And the alternative was a 10 minute drive to another hotel. The state of the pool was horrible and had been out of use for some time. If they had told me in advance I would have transferred the booking. We immediately moved to another hotel. Mizingani are refusing to refund our payment. Absolutely shocking.

    Charming hotel in the heart of Stone Town overlooking the ocean.

    This hotel is in the best location. Right across from the ocean. The decor inside is amazing displaying a lot of local culture in the furnishings and artwork. The rooms continue this theme and are very spacious. The staff is super kind and do their best to be attentive. They gave us the perfect room! We would definitely stay there again. My only caveat is that the pool was not available which is something we were looking forward to the AC wasn’t cold. Again this wasn’t enough to diminish our stay as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but it was the difference between a 4 or 5. Since our visit was during the low season they were remodeling and making improvements, so we look forward to staying there again when we return to see the updates.

    Amazing from start to finish!

    We came here for a 5 night stay. We arranged a taxi driver to collect us and take us to the hotel which was no problem. The hotel also arranged this for our trip back as well.We arrived early, but the staff took our luggage while we explored the town and we later arrived back to the most amazing room, the Livingstone. Airco was a big positive for this room, as well as the spacious area, huge bed, mosquito net and lovely bathroom.Breakfast was always a great start to the day, so much to choose from and a lovely balcony to eat from. We also had lunch one day and dinner, both delicious as well.The staff are on hand night and day for anything you might need. We even had a boat tour recommended to us and they arranged that all for us as well. Even advising where to buy a football shirt from - not on the street outside, but at a market that they gave us directions to.Everything is within walking distance, although there are always plenty of taxis outside.If we ever get the chance to visit Zanzibar again, we will definitely come here!
