Idyllically situated on the sea-front of ancient Stone Town, flanked by an exotic mix of sultans' palaces, Portuguese forts, ancient dhow harbours and bright bazaars, the hotel is a haven of tranquillity and opulence amongst the bustle of one of Africa's most ancient and most enchanting towns.

Facility

The hotel has a lift and features 39 rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, central heating and a fan. Guests can relax and enjoy the sea views from the balcony or private terrace of some rooms. Rooms have a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator and a tea/coffee station. The view and the staff!

Amazing! Wow! We were welcomed by Sultanei with a huge smile and delicious welcome drink. Then Fatma checked us in and answered all of our questions. Then we arrived to the most beautiful room. We didn’t want to leave. The room was spectacular and they thought of everything a guest might need. We continued and enjoyed a fabulous late lunch and Celine made sure we had everything we needed. Susanna gave us the best massage in the beautiful spa. She stayed late and accommodated our schedule. She went above and beyond. We only spent one night. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with so much we didn’t need another meal for the rest of the day. The staff at Serena provided the best service. We were lucky enough to return today for a day room while we waited for our flight. We enjoyed the experience again. It was relaxing at the pool, lunch with the best view of the ocean and boats. Next time our travels take us to Zanzibar we’ll stay at Serena much longer. I highly recommend if you’re looking to be spoiled with exceptional service, you stay at Serena. The hospitality is unbeatable. Thank you for making our stay so fabulous! We can’t wait to return in the future. You gave us so many reasons to visit Zanzibar again!

A Room with a View

The Zanzibar Serena Hotel was a quiet oasis within a busy city. Our room was quiet and well appointed, with an amazing view of the pool and the ocean. We were there on Valentine’s Day, and they had restaurant seating by the pool and a buffet meal. The food was on par with other buffets we’ve experienced, but the staff and the service were incredible. There was a live band for us and it was a lot of fun. Always I do feel at home whilst in Serena Zanzibar, service is superb and staff are genuinely so charming all the time. This time I was so moved with what is called teamwork among staff, surprising a cleaner could assist carrying my bags from reception and orient me all the way to my room,this lady "sharifa " was so engaging,charming and giving me a hint of good places to go whilst in Zanzibar........ very rare to find a cleaner to do other job professionaly, also to remain knowledgeable and portray her charm with confidence,to me this was more than team work& left me speachless. This was a very nice hotel in Stonetown. It has a nice location, within a quick walk to the markets and the restaurants. The rooms were very nice and the pool very clean and enjoyable. The food was ok, but the nearby restaurants were better. The front desk people seemed a little disorganized, but overall very friendly. We had a driver from the airport pick us up and he was great.
