    Don’t recommend

    rating20 Sept 2024

Functions more like a mediocre BnB rather than a hotel. This is a family run hotel. Rooms are small and the balcony is just big enough to be able to turn around in. I came here solo and picked this hotel specifically to try and get away from the big rush of the resorts. However, after having stayed here I wish I’d gone to a resort! The room has the bare minimum, no fridge. It does however have a safe. Reception is not manned 24 hours as stated. I arrived at 11pm to find the doors closed and lights off. I waited there for several minutes until the owner appeared to let me in. The pool area is nice and there are plenty of sun loungers to relax in if you want a chilled day by the pool. Don’t expect much from the food, I was severely disappointed. First, the meal timings are strict, 9-10am for breakfast and 7-8pm for dinner. Planning an early breakfast to go out and explore? Forget it. Not that the breakfast is worth staying for, the selection includes… bread, cereals, some vegetables, cheese and maybe a hard boiled egg (with the shell on) if you’re lucky. Expecting fried eggs, toast, beans, even croissants or cakes? Nope. By the third day, eating bread for breakfast gets boring. Dinner isn’t much better, there is a selection of about 4 hot dishes which I have to say tasted quite good, but again no selection and very rarely was there any form of dessert. Hoping for 2nds or 3rds? Forget it, if you arrive even 15-20 minutes late, expect that half the food will be gone (the good stuff anyway) and you’ll have to settle for some plain pasta or noodles or whatever carb source is up for grabs. The hotel boasts a “poolside bar” on the description. Yes it’s there, but unmanned. No one was behind the bar my entire stay. No food or drink available by poolside! Now the staff are generally very friendly, as is the hotel owner, but I’m afraid we had an incident. I had met someone on a Facebook travelling group and we had gone for some drinks the previous day. The next day he came over to my hotel for a few drinks. As he tried to leave, the hotel owner shouts at him and phones me down from my room to explain who he is. I explained he was a friend. He then starts arguing with my friend, makes him show his ID and threatens to physically assault him for entering the hotel! Disgusting behaviour. On my 2nd last day I approached one of the staff to enquire about late checkout as checkout was 12pm but my flight was at 10pm. He explained that it was fine and I could stay in the room until 5pm when my transfer arrives. I double checked this with him later after dinner just to be sure and he again explained it was fine. Lo and behold at breakfast the next day (the day I’m leaving!) he approaches me to tell me his boss told him I have to checkout by 12! With nothing planned so late notice, I had to spend hours in the lobby.I would definitely not stay here again, and don’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed at abroad. Please just book a 4 or 5 star hotel instead, unless you’re willing to treat this as a room and nothing more. The friendliness of staff unfortunately does not outweigh the numerous negatives.

    Great holiday destination

    rating15 Sept 2023

A lovely, family run hotel. Great pool and garden area, clean rooms. Nothing too much trouble. This is a small, quieter hotel and nothing like those huge, crowded resorts where you cannot escape from people! Lots of shops and restaurants nearly, plus a market on Saturdays within walking distance. A 10.30 bus takes you to the beach or it is in walking distance. Nearby old town Side with its ancient ruins and Komkoy for a busier vibe. Will definitely be returning.

A piece of outspoken cordiality in sunny Turkey; what a nice hotel this is!

    rating15 Aug 2023

We chose this hotel for a short holiday of 8 days, “to get away from it all” together with our two sons. It is a smaller hotel that does not have the dazzling luxury of a five-star resort, but one does not have to pay for it and one does not have to carry the "extra two-star burden".The three stars of this hotel were more valuable to us than the five stars of a luxury resort. After all, it just depends on what you feel comfortable with and what you are looking for. We wanted an affordable holiday and no "mass and bustle" but less crowdy and more cosiness, no "noise and bling-bling" but quieter and more pleasant. And, we found that here.Mr. Chem Sayin and his wife and sons care for the hotel lovingly and with personal attention to each guest. Here, one definitely does not feel being treated like “a number”. Friendliness and hospitality are written big here; We could not have chosen a nicer hotel in that regard. Atmosphere impression: A young cat family that hops through the garden and is lovingly fed. Chem hangs small solar lights in the bushes in front of the hotel for extra atmosphere, as we did at home, with apparently the same solar lights from AliExpress. The beautifully blooming and lovingly maintained garden is mainly a hobby of Chem's wife. Of course Chem's tasks include watering, and he really never skips that. In short: it is a hotel with a small-scale and a very sympathetic and humanly appearance. The interior is not super modern but it is complete, solid and cozy. The Sayin family is constantly making small improvements. For example, during our stay we received a flat-screen TV that replaced the old TV; all rooms were equipped with it. We did not use it, because relaxing in the excellent swimming pool, on one of the many sun beds with parasols or at a table in the beautiful garden is more fun.Unlike in resorts, there is no "fighting for a spot or putting down towels in time" at the pool, because it is quiet at the excellent pool and there is more than enough space at any time of the day. It is a truly exceptionally large swimming pool with a separate children's pool, which is maintained daily. Chlorine is used in the water for disinfection, but in such a sophisticated way (daily measurements and corrections) that the water is crystal clear without the slightest noticeable trace of chlorine or chlorine smell, and that is often different elsewhere in our experience. It is like "a swim in Dutch drinking water, straight from the tap", and was pleasantly warm at about 30°C.The hotel offers half board as standard, and both the breakfast buffet (08:00-10:00) and the dinner buffet (18:00-20:00) are of excellent quality. Anyone who appreciates the fine Turkish cuisine, which is the main theme here, will not be short of anything here. It is tasty, with daily changing dishes. At 10:00, 10:30 and 11:00 there is a free bus shuttle to the beach, arranged by the hotel, with a free lounger with parasol per person and no obligation to buy drinks or the like. At 16:00 and 17:00 there is the same free bus shuttle return to the hotel. The sea can also be reached on foot in about 20 minutes. Within half an hour you can walk into the old center of Side, but for 1 Euro per person you can also take a dolmus bus that drives around frequently.A few minutes' walk from the hotel are two excellent supermarkets with price tagged products and normal prices. Also in that respect, it is an advantage that this hotel is not located directly on the beach promenade. We can imagine that this hotel is also suitable for families with young children who do not consider an animation program necessary and also for the elderly who want to avoid the crowds. For them it can be a peace of mind that there is a hospital just across the street, and (with a wink, but still true...) you literally don't have to walk one meter to find a qualified pharmacist...We have looked at the reviews of others, and see both praise and criticism. We mainly recognize ourselves in the laudatory messages and in the more critical messages we mainly see small matters mentioned that we think about in a more nuanced way. For example, on the balcony near our room, the bulb of the outside light was missing, possibly taken by some prior guest? I took the bulb of bedside table lamp and put it in the outside light myself, and see … there was light. In the morning I reported it, and promptly got a new lamp for the bedside table, with apologies. The room was cleaned very well and the linen and towels were changed regularly. It is understandable to us that they cannot check "whether all the lights are functioning" just as frequently, and in our experience the hotel staff make an effort to remedy the smallest defect immediately. It is a nice hotel run by a close-knit family. Friendly people who do their utmost to make their guests feel comfortable. And what else can one wish for, now that we have found out that they perfectly succeeded?!In any case, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Carna Garden hotel and have already planned to return for a longer holiday soon!We would like to thank Mr. Chem Sayin and family for the hospitality and pleasant experiences!

We have bee here three time with our children and this time just my wife and myself.it is not the greatest of hotels but the way you are looked after makes up for that. They are so friendly and they have time to speak to you and cater for what you require. It is so relaxing in every way.there is buses to pick you up and take you back at the end of the day for the beach. We just love it.

The staff is friendly and always ready to help. The host was responsive to all our requests and was attentive to our comments. Thank you to all the staff and dear boss of the hotel!
