    Great location

    rating13 Aug 2025

I stayed for 5 days at the Rochester Classic in Buenos Aires, in a double room that seemed to be part of the hotel’s renovated wing. The location is excellent: it’s on a quiet street in the city center, almost directly across from Lavalle Station. The room was a decent size but felt rather unwelcoming: no rug or additional furniture, just a bed and a wardrobe. The biggest downside was the bathroom: although spacious and with a great shower, the wall separating it from the bedroom was made of glass, which offers zero privacy, especially when traveling with someone else.Breakfast was good, with savory and sweet options, coffee, juices, etc, but the menu did not change throughout our stay. The elevator is very small and was out of order for two days during our visit. Overall, it’s a well-located and fairly priced option, but with details that could be improved to make the stay more comfortable. Maximo Sanguinetti, Otro at Rochester Hotel Classic, responded to this review Dear Juliana,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us.We are pleased to know that you appreciated our location and found it convenient for exploring the city, as well as your positive comments regarding the breakfast and shower. At the same time, we truly value your observations about the room layout and bathroom design. Decent hotel, but not 4 stars

    rating13 Apr 2025

I'd put this hotel at 3 stars, not 4. I stayed here for 1 night. The area the hotel is in is not the best, it's extremely touristy. Check in was smooth. The lifts at this hotel are extremely small, there was only enough room for me and my suitcase. My room was acceptable, a bit dated but fine. I only booked a standard room, I don't know if I was upgraded or not but my room ended up being very large. There was a separate sitting/reception area from the bedroom. The bedroom itself wasn't huge, but I had a lot of extra space. I found my bed to be extremely comfortable, and a good size. The bathroom was probably the worst of the lot, the lights weren't well placed so even with them on it was quite dark. It was small and the toilet was in an awkward place, and I didn't really get much more than a dribble out of the shower (though there was a bath tub). The wifi was pretty good throughout the hotel, it would occasionally drop out but when it was there it was quite fast. The breakfast was ok, standard South America fare but nothing too special.Overall my stay was fine, if you don't mind staying in this area and you want something acceptable and not too expensive then it's ok.

Fantastic place to stay in the heart of Buenos Aires

    rating22 Mar 2020

Everything was perfect and hotel actually exceeded our expectations. Located in the heart of Buenos Aires, walking distance to most of the attractions. Room as well as bathroom were very spacious, clean and comfortable. Really great value for money. I can definitely recommend. Rooms were small

    rating02 Jul 2019

This hotel is situated in a crowded central place in Buenos Aires. The hotel is average . It’s centrally located just near the important land mark the Obelisk. The rooms were small for my liking. The services were also average. The breakfast was ok . worst hotel I've stayed in for 30 years

    rating27 Feb 2019

I'll start with the good bits. The hotel reception is bright and modern, with mainly bi-lingual staff, good security (needed) and nice breakfast room with nice breakfast. Now deep breath, the bad:The hotel is situated in calle Esmerelda, very central but very sleazy with a sex shop on one corner and homeless people sleeping in the next doorway. This doesn't particularly faze me as I work nights in central London, but might terrify some guests. The two lifts are tiny, only about 6 feet high and with a maximum capacity of just three people. The room was as bare as possible, a small double bed, one desk and chair, TV on the wall and tiny toilet and shower. A large mirror was propped up at the end, but no pictures or decoration on the beige walls. The TV had 67 channels of which not one was in English (not even Bloomberg or bbc world) The floor was polished wood or laminate, but no rugs or suchlike. Hot water was a matter of luck (usually no) and the industrial air conditioner was good for cooling the room, but as noisy as a tractor. On the ninth floor we had a spectacular view of a wall. If you've seen carry on abroad you'll get the general idea. Fortunately we were only staying two nights so we grinned and bore it. One more thing, this hotel has a four star rating María José G, Gerente at Rochester Hotel Classic, responded to this review Dear goa127,Let us show you our sincere gratitude for taking the time in sending us your review through TripAdvisor.
