  The hotel is in a beautiful setting, overlooking the sea/harbour, and the pool area is lovely with plenty of comfortable sunbeds. However, the surrounding area is not attractive, and there is little to do. The hotel itself is quirky, interesting and clean, but my room was in need of updating - the bathroom was particularly tired with yellowing plastic accessories and a rusty showerhead. However, the bed was comfortable. Food was disappointing. Breakfast buffet is OK, with a reasonable choice, but milk was served in its carton and the 'fruit juice' was drunk out of paper cups. The evening meal was also served as a buffet, rather than a served meal. Food was often not replenished when it ran out, and the waiting staff started to clear away food around 20:30. Coffee machines were turned off so we couldn't have a hot drink after dinner. In summary, I don't understand how this hotel is classed as a four star, I would rate it a three star..   I came here to rest with my two very young children and enjoy the surroundings.The staff was never friendly — no smiles, no greetings.The first night, some German guests in the room across from ours made noise all night long until 7:00 a.m. I asked to change rooms, but my request was refused even though other rooms were available. The following night, the bar across the street played extremely loud music until 1:00 a.m. Our room was located next to some kind of turbine machine that made a terrible continuous noise. Honestly, the words “resort,” “charming,” and “quiet” do not apply to this place at all. The furniture was old and ugly, the bed was tiny (what hotel still offers 140 cm beds for two people??), the showers impractical (the showerheads are fixed), and the toilets barely flushed while wasting tons of water.Bins were located in the middle of the livingroom.Dinner was just okay, breakfast was mediocre — almost no fruit, and the juices were industrial boxed nectar. The bar was very limited, and they didn’t even serve small snacks with the beers.Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!   Disappointing.

  I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel.The room was not properly maintained — my husband and I both woke up with multiple insect bites, most likely from the bed, and the bathroom was in poor condition with mould clearly visible in the shower. Cleanliness and hygiene were far below acceptable standards. Charges for low quality varying “white” pool towels and an additional 10%. When I raised my insect concerns with staff, the customer service was dismissive and unhelpful, offering no real solution or apology. They did reluctantly move us into a different room as requested for last night which the photos are of. To make matters worse, at the end of my stay I was unexpectedly charged additional fees that I do not feel were clear when booking. Watch out for this! Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I asked to speak with the manager, who I was told was available the next day then wasn’t. Poor hygiene, insect issues, mould, dismissive staff, and surprise charges — I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel until they make serious improvements to customer service at least and take customer feedback seriously. Food was ok, made better by one member of the team who made an effort to meet and greet and interact. Dinner drinks (even tea/ coffee/ water) not easily available apart from table service charges which will go on your check out bill. Pool area nice, no complaintsTaxi cost 70 e from Trapani airport and 55 back. I’d recommend a vehicle as there’s not much around apart from a highlight of the non resort restaurant /bar to the port area (food, service and drinks there spot on!).Evening entertainment was the same chap sat with a microphone and keyboard but nonetheless entertainingOn reading the responses to customer concerns on this site, there is no accountability by management so I’m fully expecting this style a response. My review is honest and a true account of our experience. Glad to get home! Ps….If you have no vehicle, be sure to book excursions get your guide (cheaper than reception leaflets) otherwise there’s not a lot to do if that’s what you’re looking for but that’s nothing to do with the hotel itself, just do your homework first. I conclude by saying that you paid extra for services you requested, which were not included in the package you purchased. From day one, you tried to ask us for room changes and extra services without their willingness to pay. Therefore, if you had a terrible vacation, it is entirely your responsibility. Regards.

  Disappointedly sad by their response

  We are very disappointed with this hotel. We had booked three different rooms for our stay in August. All 3 rooms were paid for in full at check in, even though we only needed two rooms at check in for first day. My cousin who was going to take one of the rooms ended up at the hospital. We told the front desk after we found out that he was sick so that they could release the room. We contacted Expedia as directed and sent in the proof of my cousins hospital visit. After many days of following up and asking for a status, the hotel responded by saying that they would not refund us for that room. To say we were disappointed, can’t properly describe what we were feeling. We thought there would be an exception that could be made or at least a partial refund due to the nature of the cancellation BUT NOTHING. manager Hotel, General Manager at La Tonnara Di Bonagia Resort, responded to this review Dear Madam, as I've explained several times, if you had booked directly with the property, it might have been possible to do as you requested, even if it wasn't foreseen. However, since you booked with Ex... and not with us, you should have asked them for the amount you charge us.   Lovely resort by the ocean and conveniently located to tour the area

  Very nice resort. We had a family room and I was a bit worried about the mixed reviews. We had a fantastic time, the resort location is perfect to move around the area. Very nice swimming pool and little beach (although public it has direct access from the resort).
