The staff make this place stand out!

    rating17 Mar 2026

I stayed here for a long weekend of solo travel, my first visit to Lisbon. As is usually the case I arrived before check in time, Katie (you know I wouldn’t be able to get it right 😂) made me very welcome and got me a cold drink to relax for five minutes before taking my case and giving me some great ideas where to go for lunch prior to actual check in. On my return my case was in my room - top floor, spacious and spotlessly clean. A treat of Pastel de Nate awaited me with a welcome note and a Nespresso machine was in the room with plenty of capsules. The bathroom also had Rituals shampoo, shower gel and hand wash, as well as a sealed pack toothbrush and toothpaste. I was given a tour and everything was explained, from breakfast to the bar service available. There is tea and coffee aplenty to help yourself to throughout the day and nice lounging areas for relaxing.Location is spectacular and amazingly quiet considering you are in a city! I slept better than I do at home.Breakfast is plentiful and a much better spread than I’ve had in many places previously. The self service includes breads, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, bacon, eggs, cold meats, cheese and of course juices. One of the days my trip started before breakfast and I was given a sandwich, juice and snack to take with me.What really stood out for me and made this stay extra special and over and above are the staff. I can honestly say I have never felt so welcomed and so at home. I had fantastic conversations with Katie, Raphael and Thais who all made me feel like a friend rather than a customer, they asked about my day and where I had been, my plans, and gave great suggestions on food, drink and things to do around my plans. If I had one piece of constructive feedback it would be that lick of paint may be in order, the paint on the stairs corridor showed scuffs and there had clearly been some water damage in my room (it’s an old building - stuff happens) which had been rectified but could do with a bit of redecoration so it wasn’t noticeable.Without a doubt I will be back, I loved every second of staying here!

Terrible, bait and switch, discriminating against women and ‘women issues’

    rating15 Nov 2025

They advertised that every room has air conditioning but after arrival I was told they manually disengaged every unit in the hotel so that guests cannot cool their rooms down (so they can save money). Furthermore, I was told it is not safe to leave my window open at night so I have to sleep in a hot room with no air circulating. This is upsetting and unacceptable. I would have NEVER booked a night here if I had been told that there is no air conditioning. I specifically booked here BECAUSE there was a/c. I am upset and angry and will get no sleep. The short amount of time I have had my window open, smoke from people smoking on the street is wafting into my room. This is a bait and switch and Dear Lisbon -Charming House should be heavily fined so they are incentivized to not rip off their customers by lying about what facilities they falsely advertise they have online on booking.com and their website. Women who are pregnant, in perimenopause, and menopause typically suffer from hot flashes, and to discriminate against us by lying about having air conditioning, & trapping us in a room that you KNOW does NOT have something that can make a difference in us getting sleep or not getting any sleep is disgusting. F you owners and managers of Dear Lisbon- Charming House. This is not a women friendly establishment. Ladies, go elsewhere.

Excellent experience at small, quaint boutique-style hotel in Lisboa!

    rating06 Nov 2025

Dear Lisbon - Charming House was an excellent small boutique hotel located in a fabulous neighborhood. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, and the breakfast was great. Our favorite part was being in a non-touristy neighborhood where we ate great food at A Obra and did 2 outstanding wine tastings at Vinhos do Manuel II-Santos/Madragoa. The location of the hotel made it walkable to the ocean/squares, and it was downhill to catch the Yellow Bus Hop-On/Hop-Off. If you’re not used to walking uphill, you may want to consider an Uber to get back to the hotel after walking around. The staff at the hotel also assisted us with getting a driver to pick us up at the airport and also take us to the port. Gonzales and Ana were very friendly and informative. Prior to arriving I had several questions and when I emailed the hotel, they immediately got back to me and offered suggestions. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and will be back when we visit Lisboa again!

Very friendly, accommodating staff. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Location was not your typical hotel location and there were only 16 rooms. My room was on the fourth floor and there was no elevator. The room had low ceilings in spots which wasn't great for me since I'm 6'3" tall but I got used to it. The hot water took about 3-4 minutes to warm up. The bed was two mattresses butted together which made for a canyon in-between them after I rolled around a few times. Overall, the experience was very good, and I would recommend it if your prepared for it to be a different experience than staying in a typical hotel.
