    Really Nice

This was a really nice and clean complex to stay in, the staff are really nice and friendly. In August this year this will be the third time that we have stayed in the La Maison and we will stay there again. The place is right in the centre of all the night life and resturants so all the entertainment is on the doorstep. Pleasantly surprised!

    rating18 Jul 2008

Overview- I would definately go back to La maison. The location was ideal and it is value for money. Yes the apartments are basic- but very clean and plenty of space. I loved the pool area and there was a lovely view of mountains. The staff were a pleasure and really do their best to make your stay a great one!!!! La maison I shall be back next year!!Pool- Nice atmosphere around the poolI really liked the pool. The music played throughout the day was varied but mainly nice chilled r''n'b tracks. There are plenty of sunbeds for everyone- however- they are very close to one another- so be ready to be freindly with fello guests. The pool is smallish but i liked it- and thought there was enough space for the amount of guests staying there.Rooms- Basic but spacious and cleanOkay- I think there is plenty of room in yr apartments. The Kitchen is very basic but you have a sink, two hobs, a frigde and a kettle- so you need to get creative with cooking- If you can be bothered. The bathroom is small but clean- the shower is soooooooo small- its smaller than a phonebox- but you're not gonna spend long in there so who cares. There is seating areas and plenty of space. The balcony is tiny- we just used to for drying clothes each day. The rooms are basic but fine, although the beds are not too comfy. Overall i loved the accomodation- like a little basic but clean flat. One major improvement needed is giving rooms a tv- which we thought we were getting. The tv they refer to is in reception- and generally on a dodgy turkish channel.Food and Drink- Pretty reasonable for a quick and easy lunch.Well the good thing about not going all inclusive is- you can pick and choose where you eat. The food served throughout the day was reasonably priced- although you would get a lot more for your money popping down the road. I must say I loved there chips- 6 liras for a big plate- which kept you going til dinner time. but there are other options- bugers, salads, omletes etc. Like most self catering places you cant consume food and drink bought from the outside, around the pool area. I found this difficult- cause your constantly needing to drink- and spending money can get drained pretty quickly. I would keep their water bottles I bought from the bar and refil them from water in the room fridge (much cheaper from the local shop). so I just pay for food and fizzy.Staff- Nice staffRight firstly Sed who works the night shift behind the bar is fanastic. Really friendly and funny and man does he like keeping the bar clean. The guy running the bar in the day is called John- he is a little quieter but he is really nice also. Our cleaner was lovely also. The guys at the reception desk I never really got to know all that well, but they seemed nice also. Location- Ideal location- right in the heart of Gumbet. Five minutes from the beach and two minutes from bar street. However the the restaurants and bars on the high street have a lot to offer by themselves. The corner bar is owned by La maison- its just downstairs- nice food, great staff and very cheap. I also really liked The Roxy- the lads in there keep you entertained with their dancing. Just keep an eye on yr bill throughout the night. Plus china town right near by- gorgeous food- a little more expensive than the other restaurants but they do set menu's which are cheaper and its def worth a visit. Oh big tip- go there for breakfast- its 5 lira (around 2 quid) for a full english or irish breakfast and its huge & so goooooooooooood!! They also provide you with a paper after yr breakfast. Really liked the staff at this place and reading the guest book- its clear they are very popular with visitors.

wouldnt book it again,we were booked in for b&b and when we didnt want the turkish breakfast we were still charged for a cup of tea,we only got one change of beding and towels and that was the wednesday teatime,we vacated our rooms at 12 the next day,and the room never got a clean out in the 7 days, and dont even think about going in with a bottle of water you will be told to bin it and buy it from the bar,its the 6th time in gumbet for us but the 1st time in this hotel, never again it needs updateing and the staff need to learn how to treat people.iam not moaning i have been in worse but never had a camera on us watching to see if your drinking our own stuff,we never tryed to eat anything or they would have thrown us out,lol WE WILL NEVER GO BACK

It was the second time i stayed in the la maison and both times i have been, have been fantastic, the staff are great, can't do enough for you, great place to stay, this year at first there wasn't many brollys for shade which was quite annoying but then they went out and bought some so there was one to every two or three sunbeds so there was plenty of shade (if you wanted it), for me this is the best hotel i have stayed in in turkey and i have been to turkey (gumbet) four times.

    brill holiday at la maison

    rating07 Aug 2007

Using the internet, we booked this holiday (2adults and 2 children) on the Tuesday night and went on following Monday . We'd read the reviews, but still weren't sure what to expect. We used a taxi from the airport (£30), much cheaper than paying for transfers. Our first reaction to seeing La Maison was "oh my god, we'll get no sleep!" the apartments are right on a main street and theres quite a steep hill to climb, we were ok in our taxi as they dropped us at the door, but the coach drops you at the roadside, not good for anyone with walking difficulties or pushchairs. Back to the apartment, the kids slept in the bedroom, (pay for air-conditioning, it was £30, but you need it!) while we had the settee/beds, the rooms have double glazing which keeps out most of the noise, but you can still hear the bass. The bars turn down the music at 4.30am, when i couldn't sleep, i sat on the balcony people watching. The staff are great, John who made our breafkfast each day was always happy, and Jacob was quite happy to sit and play dominos with our 8yr old. The cleaner used to come about 3pm and do the basic clean and tidy. Main attraction was the pool, we loved it and you didn't have to fight for a sunbed. We ate at lots of different restaurants and never had a bad meal, go to China Town restaurant, not just chinese food also Indian, English, Turkish and Italian and The Corner Bar, food is fab, but not as cheap as expected, we averaged about £45 for starters and main course, and remember everything is on turkish time, in one place we waited 1hr between courses, (we didn't go back!) Gumbet is a really nice place to go to, people are very friendly and we're thinking of going again, yes we would stay in the same apartmentsWhen its time to come home, bring your own water to the airport we paid £1.50 for 0.5lt bottle, everything is expensive.Remember enjoy your holiday, WE DID!!!!!!!!
