Good location, not so good amenities

    rating09 Jun 2026

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and found the amenities to be lacking, although the price for the stay was good, the location is great, the room clean, and staff very friendly. The design of the room is sort of midcentury modern or maybe late 1960s mod. First thing we noticed is that there are no electrical outlets by the bedsides. The cooling system is very odd, as it only works when the outside temperature reaches 20 degrees, otherwise it doesn't even come on. You cannot set the temperature you want like a normal climate control system. To cool the room we had to open the window and let in the city traffic noise. There was no luggage rack or space to place/open even our two small carry-on bags as the room is designed for appearance, not practical living. There was no fan or hand towel in the bathroom, and no tissues in the room. If you want to speak with someone at the front desk you have to head down to the lobby. They prefer you message them on WhatsApp (and of course install that app if you're not a user like us). I guess you could call the desk on your cell. Gone in this hotel is the simplicity of picking up the phone and pressing zero to speak with a human, but that saves management the overhead at the expense of the customer. You get what you pay for at this location. Recommended for the budget conscience, but not recommended for convenience seekers.

    Continuous standards that don’t falter.

I have been staying at this hotel for long enough to achieve Platinum Member status. I have experienced similar levels with other providers only as time passes, to have the expected ‘familiarity breeds invisibility’ process make its mark. Not so with the team here at Ibis Quayside, Aderdeen. They say that the whole atmosphere of any business come from the top, in this case it does - the staff really do speak well of ‘the boss’, MagdaTonight is for me the end of a very stressful day and some time at the bar was an essential wind down. As a well known face I was asked how my day had been - and I without overdoing it, came clean. The response from the guys on duty - Indre and Miguel was SO lovely - the staff that work here really care about their clients. Now here’s a thing - the night staff are NO different - how often can you say - thank you all! If you haven’t stayed here - do so. You will not regret it!

Perfect pet friendly hotel, with spooky going on in room 118! If your visiting Aberdeen this is the perfect place

    rating26 Feb 2026

I stayed at this hotel while i was moving from Orkney to Aberdeen because of medical problems, i looked to a hotel with good disabled acessess and pet friendly and valfor money as i was on a tight budget. I booked a twin bed room, disabled access and a room I could have my in training assistance dog. This hotel is a cracking place to stay, its pet friendly (our 5 months old puppy sweetie was treated like a Princess and enjoyed mornings with staff giving her sausage which she always looked forwards to! They loved her and she loved them!)Only slight problem was our room had warm not hot water, but this was sorted out right away, they even offered us another room, but we were happy where we were! The hotel staff were wonderful, friendly and experienced and made our vist a good one, they couldn't do enought for me.I'm disabled and the facilities were really good, large adapted bathroom, large room and a nice look over the docks. Theres a nice little bar and restaurant, but I didn't use the restaurant or had breakfast, they are happy for you to order in food to your room, you just need to collect it from the delivery person. The cleaning staff are great and room kept clean and tidy!Located right in the heart of Aberdeen, but not noisy at all.Theres a good selection of bars and restaurants down the shiprow village, don't forget to go to the maritime museum just 100 yards from the hotel, it's free and a good place to spend a rainy half day, it covers from the early shipping of Aberdeen to modern day. Just 10 minutes from a selection of shops like Greg's, Tesco express, virgin bank and more. For those that believe or like staying in haunted hotels, we stayed in room 118, the lights turned themselves on and off, and you can hear voices, sounds from the room next door even though the room was empty! , the feeling in the room was comfortable and friendly and it didn't put us off at all we called it "Fred"! If your planning on staying in Aberdeen then this hotel is just perfect, you will not regret it at all!

    Relaxing pre Xmas breakaway

    rating31 Dec 2025

Great central location, good prices, very comfy beds, and lovely clean rooms. Nice relaxing experience . Hotel is a few minutes walk from Union Street, and a stones throw from the Xmas Market. Breakfast was good quality and plentiful, staff were constantly making sure everything was “topped up”. All in all, a lovely stress free break.
