  Comfy with great amenities in the room

  The hotel is easy to find by public transport and a quick walk. The check-in procedure was quick and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable. Things were a bit dim, which took some getting used to. The cafe offers Gluten Free options, but largely in the sweets department. There is a washer/dryer in the room which was a huge help once we figured out how to use it.

  One of the best hotels we've ever stayed at. The rooms were well laid out, nice and clean. Every member of the staff we met was polite and genuinely friendly. We would happily come back to stay here again the next time we visit Edinburgh.

  Eden Locke apartment gave us what we needed in a location that made all things accessible but gave us the freedom to do our own thing as a couple. It was clean and had required facilities, with polite service. Only problem was the firmer bed for my back.   Would give 2nd thoughts to staying at Eden Locke in the future

  Great Location and Friendly Staff, But Sleep and Comfort Were Major Issues!!We recently stayed at Eden Locke in Edinburgh and had mixed feelings about our experience.The positives first: the location is excellent and hard to beat for exploring Edinburgh. The property was clean, attractive, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We also really appreciated the aparthotel setup. Having a small refrigerator and a compact washer/dryer was convenient, especially during a longer European trip. The room itself was a good size compared to many city-center hotels.Unfortunately, there were several issues that would make us think twice before staying again.The biggest problem was comfort. The bed and pillows were among the hardest we’ve ever experienced. We even requested additional pillows, including what we were told were the softer options, but they were still extremely firm and uncomfortable for side sleepers. After several nights, sleep quality became a significant issue.We were also assigned an accessible room (which may have been something I accidentally selected during booking without realizing). While I completely understand the importance of accessible accommodations, travelers should be aware that the bathroom felt quite clinical, with an open shower area, lightweight curtain that frequently blew against you while showering and leaked water all over the bathroom floor, a fold-down shower seat, low sink, toilet without a lid, which your knees reached the sink while sitting on toilet and emergency pull cords throughout the room and bathroom.Another disappointment was the lack of air conditioning. During mildly warm weather, the room became quite warm. There was a window that could be opened, but our room, along with many others facing the courtyard area, adjacent to a nightclub’s faux greenery wall/solarium roof area. In the evenings and overnight, cigarette smoke drifted directly into the room from the nightclub, making it difficult or impossible to keep the window open for fresh air. It was also very noisy coming from the nightclub- however our sound machine did work to cover the noise. Between the heat, smoke, and uncomfortable bed, we didn’t sleep well during our stay.Overall, Eden Locke offers a fantastic location, clean accommodations, helpful staff, and useful apartment-style amenities. However, the combination of the very firm bed, lack of air conditioning, and smoke entering through the window significantly affected our comfort and overall experience. We appreciate learning where we nailed it but also where we can improve and you've been kind enough to share both sides!We're disappointed to hear that even the soft pillows weren't comfortable enough for you. Sleep quality is of considerable importance to us, hence different pillows, sound machine, etc. We'll pass this onto management and see if we can't get some extra soft options to suit travellers such as yourselves.While we understand your frustration with the features of the accessible room, the fold-down seat, the low sink, the toilet design and the cords are all essential parts of an accessible room. We cannot change these features but can sympathise that you hadn't realised the type of room you booked. When we have the availability - we always do our best to move able-bodied travellers into another room type which they may find more comfortable but unfortunately in this case we were fully booked for the duration of your stay and had to keep you in the room you'd chosen.Finally: the club. We are hyper-aware of the disruption caused by our neighbours and do our best to add bits and pieces to each room to combat this including the fans, the earplugs, and the noise-machines. We're sorry to read that the temperature was a large obstacle during your stay and hope that our lovely team offered you extra fans and/or a portable air-conditioner when they were made aware of this issue. Even with these additions, we understand that the rooms can become stuffy and not being able to open the windows for fresh air is a pitfall of the rooms facing toward neighboring businesses. We appreciate you highlighting the brilliance of our location, the cleanliness offered, and the helpful and kind staff.
