Boutique…..yes from the 70’s when Boutiques were a thing

    rating05 Nov 2025

Very disappointed, this supposed Boutique hotel is more like a B&B from 40 years ago. Tired rooms, faded decoration, curtains hanging off, furniture not just from Ikea, but Ikea like twenty years ago.Laminated signs everywhere…don’t do this…do that…absolutely appalling. I even had a sign in my room saying “don’t close the curtains..they are for decorative purposes only “..wtf.Breakfast was a farce… continental spread …meats, milk, cheese, yogurt etc…nothing chilled anywhere…an absolute health hazard. If you believe a hotel of this standard will throw the leftovers away…not a chance…it will sit out for a couple of hours,be put back in the fridge and brought out again the next morning.Final point is there is no one on reception or in charge of this hotel from I think reception closes at 8pm till 7am the next morning. What if there’s a major emergency…say a fire? Mind boggling. The best laugh is …this isn’t an inexpensive place either…check it out.

Location is great, but that's where it stops. This could be lovely if they gave it a really good clean.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in July. The service reception was lovely, but that's where it ended. The room was way under par as to what we expected. The shower was so dirty that we put the bath mat on the shower base so our feet did not come in contact with the filthy tiles. Mould spots on the wall. The shower head was help up by an elastic band, the comp toiletries were half used! The location is great, but honestly there are much better options out there for the price. Shame as we really wanted to enjoy our Edinburgh experience.

    Great stay

We spent 2 nights at the Salisbury hotel and it was very good , friendly staff , spacious well appointed bedroom inc tea & coffee facilities plus fridge , ironing board and tower fan which we needed as it was crazy hot weather in Edinburgh , the mattress and pillows were very comfortable , very good choice at the continental breakfast, parking on the forecourt, around 20 min easy walk onto the Royal Mile.Great around and no hesitation in recommending.
