    Citizen M Glasgow

    rating05 Jun 2026

On our first trip to Scotland last month, Hubby and I stayed in Glasgow at the Citizen M hotel. We liked its proximity to the bus station (meeting point of our day tours) and to most of the attractions, eclectic decor and extremely attentive and friendly staff. When we had an issue with our TV reception, the staff resolved it in a timely manner. Special thanks to Jefferson who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and pleasant (I hope these comments make their way to him). Be warned that the rooms are small but all we required was that we had a place to rest and regroup between tours. With reasonable rates and exceptional staff, we highly recommend staying at the Citizen M Glasgow. Emma Robertson, General Manager at citizenM Glasgow, responded to this review Dear Gary,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at citizenM Glasgow. We’re delighted to hear that you and your husband enjoyed your first trip to Scotland and found our location convenient for your tours, as well as appreciating the eclectic décor and friendly, attentive service from our team. It’s also wonderful to know that our staff were able to resolve your TV issue promptly and help ensure your stay remained enjoyable.A special thank you as well for recognising Jefferson, I will be sure to share your kind comments with him and the wider team, as feedback like this truly means a lot!We appreciate your understanding regarding room size, and we’re very pleased that you found everything you needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.Thank you again for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back to citizenM Glasgow again in the future.Warm regards,The citizenM Glasgow Team

Great compact rooms with very comfy beds

    rating20 May 2026

First time staying in a CitizenM property so wasnt sure what to expect but was really impressed. Rooms are compact but fine for a few nights. Good WiFi. Didnt try the breakfast. Only drawback was no kettle in the room. They say its to save space but there was a few places it could have been. Shame really as that would have been better. Emma Robertson, General Manager at citizenM Glasgow, responded to this review Dear Ollie,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at citizenM.We’re really pleased to hear you were impressed with our compact rooms, very comfy beds, and good WiFi, especially as this was your first stay with us. It’s always great to know when guests discover the citizenM experience for the first time and enjoy it.We also appreciate your comments regarding the lack of a kettle in the room. As part of the citizenM concept, we keep rooms intentionally compact and uncluttered, with hot drinks available from canteenM at all times. We understand this may not suit everyone’s preferences and appreciate you sharing your thoughts.Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back to citizenM again in the future.Warm regards,The citizenM Glasgow Team

Awful - Style over Substance to an Extreme Degree

    rating13 May 2026

This is such an awful hotel - a real triumph of style over substance. OK, the location is good for central Glasgow and the reception staff who were young and probably underpaid were helpful, but that is where the posistives end. I was booked into it by someone else on a business trip and would never return. The rooms are tiny, with the bed crammed in with no space to walk around it; the shower is basically in the room with only a glass screen around it and the sink is in the room. The curtains and TV are gimmicky, controlled by an iPad, difficult to understand and slow to respond. There is no default room servicing, you have to use the iPad to book it, which I did, but they only changed the towels (which wasn't necessary) and did not bother to make the bed, which was. The breakfast was a buffet but there was no bacon, no sliced haggis, none of the lovely things you expect from a Scottish breakfast in a major city. Even worse, there is no tea and coffee making facility in the room. It says you can get it 24 hours from the bar but who is going down to the bar in their PJs at 6 am to get their morning tea? It was without exception an awful experience and I will never, ever use citizenM again if I can possibly help it. Emma Robertson, General Manager at citizenM Glasgow, responded to this review Dear Martin,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback following your stay at citizenM Glasgow. We’re pleased to hear you found our central location convenient and that our reception team made a positive impression during your visit. We are, however, very sorry to hear that many aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Our rooms are intentionally designed around a compact, modern concept with integrated technology and open-plan layouts, though we completely understand that this style and setup may not suit every guest, particularly when a more traditional hotel experience is preferred. We also apologise for the disappointment regarding housekeeping, breakfast selection, and the lack of in-room tea and coffee facilities. While our concept offers hot drinks available 24/7 from canteenM and complimentary filtered water stations with reusable bottles, we appreciate that this may feel less convenient than having these amenities directly in the room.Your comments regarding the room controls and housekeeping service have also been shared internally for review, as this is not the seamless experience we aim to provide.Thank you again for your honest feedback. While we are sorry to hear that citizenM was not the right fit for your stay, we do appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.Warm regards,The citizenM Glasgow Team

OK, but disappointed! Not the CitM i remember - has lost its shine

    rating22 Apr 2026

I am really torn when writing this review; I stayed in CitM really regular from the 2010's when they first opened in the Uk, both in Glasgow and London, but havent stayed in once since the COVID lockdown in 2020. I was a huge fan.I paid just over £400 for two nights + £17.50 per night for breakfast and i was disappointed in the value for money. The hotel looked tired and in need of a refurb - its lost its shine and looked tired. There was only once lift working which meant long waits, woodwork chipped, welcome 'nice shoes' carpet looked really tired and worn, tabel surfaces stained - it felt like it had lost its style and love for the place and was just after the money - all the awards they proudly talk about in the foyer were all many years ago.The Breakfast at £17.50 pp per night was definately not value for money; the scrambled eggs were powdered, sausages were ok, filter coffee was passable - potatoe scones were a nice touch though.Staff were great and they still seemd to posess that CitM culture. For the price, id rather go to a prem inn and the Pi breakfast is certainly a better quality.Baaed on my expereinces of being a really early adopter of the chain (i was one of the first guests when they opened their southwark hotel), i was really disappointed in its current offer.Rooms were usual CitM standard and very clean and tidy - their beds were always great. Please CitM just sort it out - go back to the original design principles, dont trade on past glories and do something with your breakfast! Emma Robertson, General Manager at citizenM Glasgow, responded to this review Hi stephanpauls,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, and for being such a long-standing guest of citizenM. It means a lot that you’ve stayed with us since our early days in the UK.We’re glad to hear you still value our team, cleanliness, and the comfort of our beds. However, we’re sorry to hear that this recent stay did not feel like the experience you remember, particularly around value, breakfast, and the overall condition of the hotel. We also note your comments regarding lift availability and general upkeep.Your feedback is important and has been shared with the relevant teams for review, especially given your long history with the brand and your perspective on how things have evolved. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and hope we’ll have the opportunity to restore your confidence in citizenM in the future.Warm regards,The Glasgow Team

Modern perfection - bonus points for no carpet!

    rating21 Apr 2026

This place has restored my faith in UK hotels. The designer should get a medal!Spotless rooms – I can’t understate how lovely this was. Everything was absolutely dust-free, and there were no weird stains or mould in the bathroom corners. The massive window makes the modest size room feel huge. Super king beds - Tall-people friendly. No irritating footboard at the bottom the bed to prevent me or my partner stretching out. Comes with an extra duvet if you’re cold. Sheets aren’t tucked in like a Victorian movie – thank god.Bathroom – flick taps (no old fashioned turn taps yay!). These are accessible, hygienic, and really helpful for people with contact lenses. No skanky, stained carpet or skanky rugs in the room. Hotel carpets are always gross. It's so hard to find a hotel with hardfloors. Thankyou citizenM for bucking the trend!!Mood lighting – not a necessity, but appreciated.Breakfast was great! Very good breakfast buffet (hot and cold) with high protein options and available until 11am (late breakfasts are a rarity for hotels for some odd reason ).Free tea and coffee all day, and a well-stocked bar.Office/work area is great! Cosy, clean booths and wipe-clean furniture (can’t tell you how many supposedly five-star hotels I’ve stayed at with stains on their soft fabric chairs). All surfaces in the study were wipe-clean (faux leather, etc.). The "living room" area has a few soft furnishings, which looked ok for now (but I suspect they won't wear as well as the ones in the study)Great base for exploring the city; you can even take a train out to some of the countryside areas for a hike.Other hotels could learn a thing or two from this one about going back to basics: a high standard of cleanliness, comfy large beds, and minimalist décor. Business guests really don’t want to be subjected to clutter and tat in rooms that never get dusted. I don’t care about hotel swimming pools or gyms either, especially in a modern city like Glasgow where there’s a multitude of exercise classes available, from hot yoga to weight lifting. Also, if I want a spa experience, just go to Soul Suites - it was amazing. I appreciate the hotel focusing on its core assets.Minor improvements:- More hooks would have been handy without destroying the minimalist vibe.- Ceiling would have been better painted white.- Vinyl might not have long to go, would recommend replacing it with something more hardwearing like bamboo slats, tiles or polished concrete- Office area: adding a few double or single pods for private video calls/meetings would be ace.- Small one but adding some low maintenance plants like ZZs or snake plants to the communal area would also add to the homely fresh vibe.Things to note:This is a hotel aimed at business guests, single travellers, and couples. What it does, it does well. It’s not aimed at families or people with young children, so if you’re coming with kids, don’t expect a load of services to cater to them. For childfree couples and business guests though it's amazing! Emma Robertson, General Manager at citizenM Glasgow, responded to this review Hi SunSurfSeeker171506,Thank you for such a detailed and enthusiastic review! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cleanliness, comfortable beds, breakfast, and our communal spaces, and that the design and layout helped make your stay feel fresh and functional. It’s especially great to hear that you found us a strong base for exploring Glasgow and beyond. We really appreciate your thoughtful suggestions around hooks, communal space enhancements, and additional workspace privacy — feedback like this is incredibly valuable and has been shared with the team for consideration. We’re thrilled you had such a positive experience and hope to welcome you back again soon!Warm regards,The Glasgow Team
