    Blocked disabled bays made access impossible – serious accessibility failure

    We had a very concerning experience regarding disabled parking access at this hotel.On arrival, a coach was parked directly across six designated disabled parking bays, completely blocking access for Blue Badge holders and anyone requiring accessible parking. This meant that disabled spaces were effectively unusable at a time when they were clearly needed.The situation appeared to be unmanaged, and there was no immediate action taken to resolve the obstruction while we were there. For a hotel of this size, and especially one that will inevitably host guests with mobility needs, this is a serious failure in basic accessibility provision.Disabled parking bays must be kept available and enforced at all times. Having them blocked in this way is not just inconvenient, it prevents access entirely.I hope management take this seriously and put proper procedures in place so it cannot happen again.Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend checking accessibility arrangements before booking if you or anyone in your party relies on disabled parking.     No space for clothes?

    The so-called free parking, actually costs £5 per night! The gym next door seemed to take up most of the parking spaces. The room itself, although very clean, had nowhere to put any clothes, not even a shelf!. The staff were very friendly but we wouldn't go there again, didn't like getting my clothes etc out of a suitcase everyday.

    First impressions is the building is not the prettiest but once inside all was fine. Check in was easy. I booked two single beds, rooms spacious, large TV, good size bathroom with dove soap and shampoo. Comes with usual hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Personally I found the bed very very firm which gave me back ache but my friend was fine. We were going to eat dinner there but they had a problem with the ovens so unable to supply hot food. We were advised about Joys Indian restaurant and have to say it was fab and less than a mile walk. Breakfast was great, and replenished frequently. One minor issue, they took my payment twice but when I pointed in out they sorted it out straight away. All in all not a bad stay for the money.     Much Better than Average HIE average

    In my roadtrip this week and en route to Hunstanton i stayed at this hotel on Weds evening. I have a affinity with Norwich as my Great Uncle was MP for East Norfolk in 1950,s and had a beautiful house in Unthank Road and i can remember wonderful family parties in 1970s with our family Conveniently located on the ring road and adjoining a David Lloyd Sports Club and almost immediately located next to a Morrisons the local facilities are very convenient The reception is slightly above the average HIE but the welcoming from the reception staff was exceptional. My Platinum Elite membership was immediately recognized and I was thanked for being such a loyal IHG supporter Tired I went straight to my room in 2nd floor and almost immediately feel asleep My room was a standard HIE offering with a combined wash room and toilet door The only thing stopping me awarding a converted 5* is that my Television wasn’t programmed and I spent 10 minutes trying to get it working before giving up The breakfast was the average HIE Buffet but with soft bread rolls. I would have liked Mushrooms but made a bacon and tomato Bap with made a nice change Whilst assembling my breakfast I was complimented on my waistcoat which was very nice The Carpark is adequate but seems to be shared with the Gym and was quite busy in my arrival but perfectly ok on my departure Bravo - Well above the Standard HIE offering and I would happily return Darren Fulcher, Owner at Holiday Inn Express Norwich by IHG, responded to this review Hi Jeremy,Thank you for your kind review.     We were a bit hesitant to book as we know the hotels history but was bear my parents to stay for the Christmas break. The room was large and adequate and mattress was new and the room had gadca quick refurb. The main issue was saying to park £5 which should be just included and why charge extra?? Also the breakfast on boxing day could have been far more organised as they told us the hotel was full when we arrived Christmas day eve so breakfastveas a bit caloric tbh, we felt they could gave allocated time slots to be far more organised rather than a free for all at peak time with no tables andboeopke queuing, not what we wanted boxing day morning. We went for a walk round the boxing day sale at Asda and returned to get a table and breakfast was OK, but not the best.
