Location

This full service hotel, offering value for money, is located some 29 km to the north of Boston. The hotel offers a convenient base for a city visit, combined with the historical Salem (located around 8km away). A range of restaurants, bars and shops as well as links to the public transport network are to be found within the immediate vicinity.

Facility

The hotel welcomes guests in a 4-storey building with a lift and 183 rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities.     The only reason that I gave the hotel 2 stars was that the front desk was quickly accomodating when we had to switch rooms. Overall the condition of the hotel is concerning. They updated some things, but the elevators are nothing short of scary. I am not sure why they skipped updating them, but it was a concern that they might break while you are in them, they smelled terrible. The hallways were bit banged up as well and heading to the room we had some real concerns. The room itself was clearly updated. The first room we had was fine overall. On the surface it was clean and comfortable. However, we opened the fridge to put some water we brought in, and there was half a sandwich and partially consumed beverage in there. That was cleaned up, and it was late so we stayed put. One of us took a shower and the showerhead fully blew off and caused the bathroom to flood. It was at this point that we switched rooms. In the second room, it did appear to be a bit cleaner. But the HVAC was LOUD, very very LOUD. And we didn't have good control over it. The tv in the living room did not work either, which was unfortunate for those that wanted to stay up a bit later. We did not have similar issues with the shower thankfully. In both rooms, the windows were sketchy. I don't know how else to describe them, they were scratched up or something? Again, if they refurb'd the hotel, why skip this? Seemed odd. The doors were also questionable enough that i moved furniture in front of them and the peephole was giant so we plugged it with tissues. The last thing I will say is that the entrance is easy to to miss and it can be hard to get back out. I didn't love the vibe of the parking lot either and was a bit uneasy with it.Overall I cannot recommend a stay here.     mediocre hotel, terrible location

    My daughter and I spent one night here and I didn't bother checking reviews online first as I figured it was a Holiday Inn, it should be fine. Im honestly not sure what the deal was, the hotel was mediocre and the location is horrible. Im usually a go with the flow type of person but the issues kept adding up. When we got there I asked the person checking us in about the pool as it was one of the reasons I booked this hotel. She said the pool was closed as they were having issues getting it up to a good temperature that wasn't freezing cold. My daughter was really bummed but not a huge deal, things happen. We went up to our room and it was like stepping into a freezer. Our room was so cold. I cannot fathom a reason why there was no heat on whatsoever. I found the heater and the thermostat said it was 52 in our room. The heat worked fine it was just completely off and it took several hours for the room to get up to a livable temperature. The room itself was nice, it does look like it's been updated and everything was clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable. Later that evening after we came back from dinner and I wanted to take a shower. No exaggeration it took me 15-20 minutes of running the water to get the shower to a warm temperature. Not even hot, just warm enough to tolerate. I dont know why this hotel thought it was in the artic tundra.We slept well and had no noise issue, staff was friendly and welcoming. My biggest issue with this hotel was honestly the location. I should have looked first but I didnt. It is directly on what I believe was rte 1 and just a few yards from where you can get on rte 128 and towards i believe 95. So the entrance to the parking lot is basically on a major highway. When we first got there I went right by the entrance because by the time I realized where I needed to turn I was afraid to slow down enough to turn in because I was on a highway and didn't want to get rear ended. This added 15 minutes of more driving since it's 3 highways all converging in one area and you can't just easily turn around. Since it was November when we went it was dark when we left to go get dinner and super busy and it was basically like taking your life in your hands trying to leave the parking lot. If you were planning on exiting immediately onto 128 you were in luck as you didnt have to try to cut across a busy lane or two to stay on rte 1. At 9am the next morning it was better but still extremely busy. Truly it was just a nightmare of a location. I will say there is a drive thru Starbucks in the same parking lot which was nice.     WOW, just wow. They “updated” their rooms, A 12 year old could see the issues! Checkin took waaay too long & didn’t get the billing correct. Rooms were marginal, outlets NOT working. the only saving grace was the bed was comfortable & the restaurant attached to this property was very good. Checkout? Forget it, never got a bill, (got charged, just NO receipt, had to call customer service to resolve that) Could not stand in line waiting to checkout for more than 20 minutes. Just a poorly run hotel. Will stay anywhere or sleep in the car next time.     ROTTEN FROM WITHIN!!!!

    Where do I begin...We arrived here after dark, so it looked nice from the outside. However, once we entered, we started noticing things. The lobby was kind of dark, but it smelled clean....it just had an eery feeling. There was a family ahead of us that was also checking in. They left to their room and as I am checking in, the wife comes back that the beds were undone and the room is unacceptable. Not sure what else she saw , but since they didn't have any other room to give them, they decided to leave. We should've followed suit. We asked the front desk if the pool would be open by the weekend and we were told that it hasn't been open for months. Not something that was listed on the website either. The hallway floor were dirty and the elevator reminded me of a project one, but hey we kept a positive mind. We head to the room and the lock looked like it was about to go. The door wouldnt closed unless we gave it a push. We walked in and it smelled OK, but omg it was icky. There were a total of 3 outlets and only 1 worked. We had to alternate between the TV and the fridge. The dresser under the TV needs to be replaced. The chair by the desk was ripped. The ceiling had mold. The bathroom was ok, but the towels would leave lint when you used them to dry yourself. None of us bathed without sandals in the tub. We paid for 2 nights and left after 1. We couldn't stay there any longer. The people going in and out of the hotel were questionable and I finally read a review stating that they have shelter people staying there. Made absolute sense! They should really list that on their website when you book. Not all families are open to people sitting in the hallways and hanging out, screaming. It just had a weird vibe. There's a Starbucks and tesla supercharger right by it, but even the Starbucks was horrible. Don't stay here...dont spend your money...!!! We ended up going 30 mins further South and a Hilton Garden Inn that was way better in every aspect.

    Sketchy hotel. Door wouldn’t properly latch. It seemed like people were living there. The smell of cigarette smoke was everywhere…for a smoke free facility hmmm. I should have checked the reviews before I stayed.
