Location

This comfortable city hotel is located in the Cambridge quarter of Boston, only around 5 km from the city centre. University Park and the famous Harvard Square are located close to the hotel. Furthermore, the nearest links to the public transport network are about 160 m from the hotel. In addition, the nearest shopping opportunities are approximately 5 km from the hotel. Countless restaurants, bars, cafés and many more nightlife venues are to be found in the near vicinity, around 800 m from the hotel.

Facility

The hotel has 196 rooms, which are located on 8 storeys and are reachable by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the 24-hour reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities.     I spent two nights here and the hotel was fine. Bed was warm, but a bit too soft. I had to crank up the in-room heat to get it to be comfortable for me. There is a sign getting off the elevator in the morning that way, "come grab a coffee to go!". Yay, I thought. And then there is a slip of paper that says "Fill out this slip and put it in the jar" for $6 coffee (for drip self-serve?). The fitness center was not great. Bike was broken, floor was dirty, equipment looked tired and run down (get a couple of Pelotons!). I'd stay here again because of the location, but I don't think it lives up to its hefty cost.

    Strange things are happening here?

    OK…My wife and I have stayed here a lot over the past 2 years…more than 20 times!!!Something weird is happening here…we love this hotel for the people…staff are top notch and always go above and beyond to please…but this time we have noticed significant cutbacks in staffing that are significantly degrading the quality of service. There used to be 2 people in the dining room for breakfast…now only 1…there used to be 2 people at dinner at Amuse, now only 1. Same at the front desk…usually only 1 person…less staffing=less service. Customers are gonna go elsewhere.The hotel is well kept but needing a renovation (see my last 2 reviews). Maids work hard to keep the rooms clean, but we did notice some differences…less staffing???We love this place for its location…great neighborhood, convenient to downtown locations. You can easily walk to Boston.However, I think it’s time for a change…lots of options in the Boston/Cambridge area.     We stayed here on 12/27 and think it was maybe the worst hotel experience of our lives. When we arrived, our room was freezing and the heat was off. The thermometer showed it was 56 degrees. We cranked up the heat and went out for a walk. When we came back 2 hours later it was still 56 degrees so they moved us to another room. The other room was - also freezing and the heat was off. We did the same thing and went out to dinner after turning up the heat. When we returned the heat was listed at 57 degrees. The front desk offered us a blanket but really we slept with our parkas over us.     Another wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff is excellent. Our room was excellent. I would say that this is the best hotel in the Cambridge area. Don't miss out!!
