    Gem in the Heart of Salem

    We were down to Salem for a wedding and ended up booking a room at the Hotel Salem because of its proximity to ceremony, restaurant, etc. in the heart of downtown Salem. The rooms were very clean, unique and very comfortable. The service from check in to check out was impeccable - highly recommend!     Get back to the basics Hotel Salem

    Nope - cannot recommend. Missed the mark on two very impactful aspects - bathroom and bedding. The bathroom set up is strange with the toilet separate on the other side of the hall (with no sink!) and the shower and double sink on the other side of the hallway. Now for the shower... took over 5 minutes to go from icy cold and then watch out - scorching hot and nearly impossible to get it just right, without going back to ice old again. The pressure was kind of lacking as well. Now sleep quality - again - big miss! The bed was comfortable enough however; they seem to use cheapo microfiber sheets. And the most frustrating part was the bottom sheet continued to pull up away from the mattress all night long! Not the restful respite we were looking for while in town for a wedding. We've traveled extensively and this hotel is one of the poorest price/quality ratios we've encountered. The hotel staff were friendly enough however, no one has contacted me regarding my feedback to their survey- other than very rote, AI generated "we're so sorry blah blah blah". Don't ask the question if you don't want to deal with the response... My advice - look elsewhere.     Location and service was excellent! Easy to walk to stores, restaurants, historic sites. Staff checked in daily via text to see if we needed anything. They were quick to fulfill any request.     We stayed here one night as a leg of our honeymoon. The workers were so nice and offered tips and recommendations of great visiting spots. We booked a micro king and while definitely living up to the size of the name, it was so cute and cozy! The service caught wind of it being the first night of our honeymoon and left us a surprise of champagne, rose pedals and a note! We were totally blew away with this stay and could not recommend it enough!!
