Is it just us, or is the Hilton Brand going downhill these days?

    rating25 May 2025

We were in town for a graduation. The room was clean, but the air conditioning system on the 3rd floor was practically non existent. The first night before going to bed we adjusted the air because it seemed stuffy. It never kicked on and only got warmer. Mind you the temperature outside was in the 80’s-90’s range. At 4:00 AM the thermostat was blinking red. The system was totally off. Again we adjusted it. Around 6:00 am we had some cool again. When we left our room at 1:00 pm it was cool and comfortable. When we returned around 11:00 pm the room was stuffy. We adjusted the thermostat and went to bed. Again no air! I honestly believed the hotel was deliberately turning the air on and off to save the almighty $$! At 4:00 AM the thermostat was blinking again and I turned the system back on! In addition, there was an almost empty roll of toilet paper on the roll and a half empty one on the other. THERE WAS NO SPARE ROLL ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND!!! Every hotel room has a new roll just in case! This is minor, but we didn’t receive a complimentary bottle water when we arrived. We’ve been Hilton Honors for over 30 years. But more and more their Brand seems to be going downhill. I think no one is checking the franchises or they just plainly don’t care. When we checked out, we let the desk clerk know. He asked if we called to complain, which we didn’t do. We had to be up very early to attend a 8:00 am graduation! We weren’t there to have people in our room in the middle of the night or strangers in our room when we weren’t there!

    Perfect

A great location right off the freeway. Unfortunately the elevators were both out of order. All ground floor rooms had been taken so we had to carry our stuff up to the second floor, no offer of help. You would think they would have kept some rooms aside for seniors and gold honors clients. We sat at the bar and the bartender/server was one of the best. We had steak and it had to be the best I've had in a Hilton ever!!

    Respect yourself, go elsewhere.

The night front desk agent and bartender were fabulous -- only high point about this skid row hotel. Otherwise, the room reeked -- like stinky gym clothes. The rug was filthy and crawling with some kind of tiny, bright red, biting bugs. They were also in the bed. The bath towel was folded up between the toilet seat and the tank. I have no earthly idea why, but gross. Also, the towels smelled of mildew. And the shampoo, bath gel, and conditioner are strangely adhered to the wall. Guess they got tired of people not leaving behind those little, used bars of soap and shampoo bottles for the next guest. 🙄 The tops of those bottles were pretty grungy, as well. The cleaning staff came literally banging hard on my door at a little after 9AM like they owned the place and laughing about it when check out is at 11AM. (trust me, they were not a nice bunch to encounter, either). They wouldn't even answer when I asked who was at the door. The worst had to be that so-called assistant manager they had working there that morning. When I went up to have a word with him about his staff, he acted like he didn't see or hear my approach, but his acting reeked along with all the rest of it. Typically, folk in these positions are upbeat, energetic and eager to help with your concerns. This individual was anything but. He kept his head turned sideways and wouldn't even look at me as I was speaking. When I asked where the coffee was, he just pointed. The coffee area was, as well, dirty with a sticky syrup left on it that got on my coat. The older woman working in that restaurant didn't speak, either; just walked past glaring, and looking sour as heck. This place isn't even worth the price of the cheapest flop house in Vegas, in my opinion, let alone what they charge. Hadn't realized The Hilton brand had slid this far down in the mud.

    Never stay here

    rating26 Dec 2024

Usually there is an expectation with Hilton and this property does not carry it. Check in was great, but my room AC unit was making a high pitched whining noise all night; about 0130 in the morning I woke up sweating and tried to lower the AC but I never felt it start to cool down. I called the front desk for a late check out because I couldn’t fall back asleep until around 0530. They were nice to grant me this. At 0830 house keeping is knocking extremely loudly on my door, I answer and let them know I have a late check out for 1PM, they acknowledge me and go to the next room. Again at 1030, house keeping is loudly knocking on the door and I let them know I have a late check out, they nod and move on. Then AGAIN at 1130 house keeping is knocking loudly and I repeat myself that I have a late check out. At this point I decide to just forgo sleep and get ready to go to the airport. When checking out I told the front desk about my experience, the AC, the house keeping his literal words were, “Okie dokie, do you want a receipt?” I said no and then he said sorry about your experience and shrugged. WILD. Very disappointed in this experience.

Check out the "hidden fees" before booking, make a phone call

    rating22 Dec 2024

I stayed at this location, first visit was clean, quiet, convenient location in a safe area. I did not look at the statement when I left. The clerk at check in did not tell me about any "hidden" fees. I scheduled another stay because the experience had been pleasant. The second stay was a whole different story. I checked in, went to the room. The bathroom seat had dry urine, black hair on the toilet and in the tub. I called the desk to have someone clean the bathroom. The maid came and cleaned but this should not have been. Next issue, I was charged a parking lot "maintenance fee". I was told it was to keep the parking lot clean. Not a parking fee, a "maintenance fee". Over the next 36 hours the trash was not emptied. I was told the parking lot was clean tho! " The trash can was by the front entrance door" I was declined a refund for the maintenance fee. If 100 rooms are rented each day, that's $7000 daily. Think about it.
