Pool service fees - disservice to staff

    rating31 May 2026

We had a wonderful experience at the Four Seasons pool and spa. The staff was excellent, and we fully expected premium pricing for food and drinks in that setting. What was disappointing was the automatic 20% service fee added to every order. This practice does a disservice to your staff. When guests already see a 20% charge on the bill, many are understandably reluctant to add an additional gratuity, regardless of the quality of service. In our case, we typically tip 25% or more for great service. However, when a 20% service fee is already included, it’s difficult to justify adding another 20–25% on top of that. As a result, your staff may actually receive less in gratuities than they otherwise would have. It’s difficult to believe that 100% of that fee goes directly to employees, and the lack of transparency creates frustration. If the true cost of operating the pool restaurant is higher, I would rather see those costs reflected honestly in the menu prices. When I choose to order a $30 salad, I’m choosing a $30 salad—not expecting an additional 20% service fee plus the expectation of a 20% tip on top of that (be real it’s expected). The staff were great and deserve to be compensated fairly. I would encourage Four Seasons to either be fully transparent about where the service fee goes or simply incorporate those costs into the listed prices.

Beware the aggressive knocks at checkout

    rating16 May 2026

Positives: I came here for a work meeting and stayed 3 nights. I was impressed by the room service staff (esp Erin who went above and beyond) and the staff in the restaurant. I had their high tea one day and it was a fun experience. The rooms are spacious and updated. The lobby is bright, modern, and welcoming. Negatives: So why only 3 stars? All of those positives were negated by a series of negative experiences on the last day. I called around 6:15 a.m. to ask whether a late checkout might be possible and was told to call back in an hour. When I called back a couple times 1 hour later, no one at the front desk answered. I have never stayed at a Four Seasons where the phone wasn't answered immediately no matter the time of day. It didn't really seem like a big deal as an isolated issue though. Since a 12 p.m. checkout is already more generous than most hotels, and I assumed the hotel was full, I decided to check out at the designated time despite some scheduling challenges. I ended up running slightly behind but was walking out the door at 12:12 p.m when there was loud banging on my room door. As a woman traveling alone, an unexpected, aggressive knock is unsettling. When I opened the door (which I really should not have done but was already walking out), there was a man outside holding a piece of paper and looking down at it. He did not identify himself, and he was not dressed like the other hotel staff, so initially I was unsure who he was. He asked if I was planning to check out that day. I said "yes" while walking out of the room past him because I felt unsafe. He simply said “okay” and walked away.I was less upset about being hurried to check out than I was about the way the situation was handled. This approach felt inappropriate for any hotel, and certainly not what I would expect at a Four Seasons. When I reached the front desk, I overheard another guest explaining that her flight had been delayed by several hours, and she was immediately offered a later checkout. Given my earlier request and experience, this was definitely a bit annoying to hear.I explained to the front desk employee what had just happened outside my room. She chuckled, seemingly amused, and said she would “talk to her team” about it. Very dismissive. Overall, the facilities and amenities are nice but they are marred by the service. Not Four Seasons quality at all. Disappointing and should be addressed.

    Great stay

    rating25 Oct 2025

What you expect from a Four Seasons. The hotel mgmt tries to make things right asap and then follows up to make sure the guest is satisfied with no lingering displeasure. Edge has overall good service, with great servers and hostesses like Ashley and Alex. The toast is always cold so order it when your meals comes. Nice spa, great gym.The biggest disappointment was with the bartenders. They behave like they are scrolling social media. In the middle of making a drink they will start it, and then check the tickets, they will get back to the drink and add some of the recipe, then talk to another guest, then go back and maybe finish the drink. This happened every day, all while I am watching! And one day the bartender totally forgot my guests wine. Great experience overall

    rating25 Sept 2025

I stayed here for a work event, and overall it was a great experience. I had a lovely corner room, which was spacious (although looking at the room map, all rooms on my floor were about the same, which is great to see). The tub is massive! All staff I interacted with were lovely and helpful. Robes were fluffy. Turndown service was a nice touch. I had room service one evening and while expensive as expected, it was tasty (particularly the sticky toffee pudding!).The only criticism I could offer was during a business event, the coffee station provided was lukewarm at best (coffee and hot water urns). It was truly not even tap water warm despite the little burners below the urns. This setup seemed to work fine the two days prior so I am not sure what the problem was. The food at our events was a bit mixed, sometimes too bland/healthy, and not filling. Some folks didn’t mind this but many were a bit disappointed. We did have a delicious taco bar spread one day which was really tasty. Overall I would stay here again. Lots of restaurants close by as well.
