It's cheap - but know that it is cheap for a reason. Ghetto

Let me start by saying, the staff are friendly and do their best. They deserve a big bonus! That said, I'm an Air Force Veteran who has stayed in third-world countries on deployment; this place competes for the bottom of the list. The only place I can think of that was worse was East Timor (look it up) in 2000, in a former Barracks that had been burned down. Check-in: There is no check-in lobby. It's all locked up with a window in a dimly lit corridor like a late-night convenience store where you have to slip your ID/credit card through a small slot. The lady is charming and helpful, though. There are lots of warning signs around the check-in window, including things such as "$3 for replacement [plastic] key"It seems all rooms have "external doors" where there are lots of people hanging out in the corridors / outside their rooms. To the point that the person dropping me off asked, "Are you sure you'll be ok here?"It took three attempts and visits to 'check in' to access my room (and I needed the assistance of the lovely lady) as the key card continually didn't work. The room looks nothing like the website. It looks beaten up. There are no pictures on the wall (don't care, but the images on the web try to make the room look nicer). Be prepared for the room to smell like a chain smoker just left the room. It isn't nice. There are marks and chips all over the walls. The "blackout curtains" aren't in the best shape. The toilet cistern lid was cracked all the way through. The "kitchenette" basin drain had some stuff on the bottom of it (perhaps paint?). There is a small electrical box on the wall that doesn't close properly and has graffiti in it. There was a full-size fridge, which was working. The "dining" is a tiny table (twice the size of those fold-out TV dinner tables). There was a single old school seat in the room (think 1970s seat with no armrests), and the faux leather fabric had either just broken over time or looked as if it had been slashed 3 times. The bathroom was a disgrace, with mold everywhere and signs that water had been leaking through the roof. (See photo). I volunteer at a prison and suspect this is a long-term rental option for people who cannot get approved for a standard rental location due to background check requirements. My advice is that it's cheap and 2-star. You get what you pay for. Just understand, though, that this is in a bad neighborhood in Houston (south of HWY 290), and you should *NOT* bring children here. If you are a grown man, travelling for work, and need to save money, you can do that. Just lock your door, keep to yourself, and don't go out after dark.Again, the staff are lovely, but the location and property are terrible. Trash all over the property next door and homeless people living 150 yards away on a cross street behind a building.Red Roof - I suggest you sell this property to a slum lord. This is so below par for even Red Roof that I checked out early (no refund policy) and moved to an IHG property.

JUST DON'T! YOU WILL REGRET HERE!

Two words to sum up: RUN and HORRIBLE! I really don't even know where to start from. We booked this hotel at almost $80 a night but it was not worth even a penny. We pulled in late at night and there was a group of suspicious people right in front of the office. In fact there were a lot of shady people pretty much all around the property. I still held into my nerves and start looking for the office.Office was dark and the door was locked. One suspicious lady even told me to leave and that office is closed at night. I knew her information was not accurate and start looking for any signs for after hours check in. There was a small note on the front door to check in with the side window if the door is locked. I went to the side window and it was shut, locked and dark. There was a ringer outside on a broken dented wall and was not working. Of course by this time I had a lot of attention from unwanted people just hanging and walking within the property. I knocked on the window for sometime before finally somebody turned the lights on from inside and open the window. My room was on the third floor and with small kids and bags it was a huge hassle to take stairs. I was told that elevator was not working and when I looked at the elevator I knew why. It looked like somebody blew it up as it was literally ripped apart. The whole hotel was dirty and filthy as there were trash everywhere and all over. We went to our room and it was barely livable. Walls had dent, hole, and water leak markings. Refrigerator was dirty as hell and the floor was sticky as honey. Stove and its knobs were all broken and I was so afraid to even touch it to avoid any possible gas leak disaster. Restroom was extremely small and literally had a kid size broken sink. Bathroom was small and only had a one small soap. There was no shampoo or conditioner. Only two towels were provided for the entire family size room. Both towels had stains and were dirty. Air condition worked but was loud and noisy. I went downstairs to get more towels and after a lot of question and answer I was given some and even those had holes and stains!Of course they had no return/refund policy regardless of the reason so moving out after paying a hefty price was not an option for me. My entire stay was very uncomfortable and I didn't feel safe at all. Thank god that nothing happened to me or my car and I got out in 1 piece. This hotel needs a complete renovation from bottom up. First and foremost, security needs to be tightened up and they need to get rid of suspicious people. Wish I can give zero star!

Horrible site!! DO NOT stay here!

    rating29 Aug 2021

Me and my kids stayed here during the storm. There are suspicious and shady people outside all hours of the night. There is obvious prostitution and drug use on the premises. The rooms and outside are dirty. Not safe for children. DO NOT bring your kids here. The rooms are going for different prices, right now the room is listed for $54 but the day before the hurricane the prices were $100 a night. The office staff is very rude and dismissive. They give you a paper with all kind of rules regarding how to conduct yourself on their property, but it appears no one pays any attention to this and there is NO WAY management is not aware. The worst part is the lady at the front desk gave a keycard to my room to another person, so while me and my kids were getting settled, a woman opened our door!!! When I went to the front desk to complain, they acted like it wasn’t a big deal. You will not feel safe here. I was up all night watching my truck out of fear that it would get broken into. A lot of long term tenants.
