Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The resort offers a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. Children can enjoy the playground. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car (no extra charge). Further services include a 24-hour security service, a car hire service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. Rooms

Air conditioning, central heating and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. A balcony or terrace is a standard feature of some rooms. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed, a king-size bed or a sofa bed. Separate bedrooms are available. Extra beds can be requested. A safe provides secure storage for guests' personal property. Sport

The pool complex ensures comfortable swimming with its indoor and outdoor pools and pleasantly heated water. Children can enjoy a special swimming area just for them. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. The hot tub in the pool area promises pure relaxation. Many sports facilities are available at the resort, including tennis, crazy golf, fishing and horse riding. Sport and leisure facilities at the resort include a gym, billiards and aerobics. A wellness area with a spa is available at the resort. Children are well looked after in the kids' club.

Meals

The dining area includes a restaurant and a bar. A fortifying breakfast is served daily.

    Great stay at HICV Hill Country Resort

    Have no fear if you're planning to stay here in the coming weeks. We just returned from a great 4 day and night stay at HICV's Hill Country Resort at Canyon Lake. Excellent accommodations in a 2BR-2Bath villa with a full kitchen. Brookshire Brothers grocery store is very close by and convenient. Enjoyed lounging at their pool and hot tub, playing mini-golf and ping pong, taking the short drives to nice hikes at Canyon Lake Gorge ($5/person) and the lake's dam, Canyon Park Drive, Madrone Trail and its pollinator garden. Had good dinners at nearby Italian Garden and Guadalajara restaurants. Day trip to downtown San Antonio to visit the Alamo and other Spanish mission historic sites just south of town, then strolled the famous River Walk. The nice gentleman who checked us in at registration told us this resort will be shutting down in late December and HICV will put it on the market for sale. It will interesting to see if another timeshare company acquires it, or if all of its buildings are converted to condos for sale and/or apartments for rent.     The property has 3 sections, 1 near the main lobby and pool that is set up like cabins and then two across the main road that is set up like apartment complexes with 4 floors, which we stayed at using RCI points. I think most of the complaints are about the area near the main lobby. This area seemed slightly newer and had its own pool. You could probably walk to the main lobby but some big hills and a busy road, so we drove. Our area was called Ambassador and had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with a washer and dryer in unit (which we were not expecting). Unfortunately we found out at the end of our trip that the dryer didn't work but no big deal the TX heat dried our clothes quickly.Most of our time wasn't spent on property as we just used it to explore the area but we did frequent the pool near our unit most nights and played a few rounds of put put (the course and equipment are in need of repair but it is free) . The listing said no fitness center but there was one near the highway in a separate building. We did not go inside as we didn't see it until the end of our week.Most guest we meet were owners of this resort and all said they enjoyed returning every year. They used the grills and gazebos and it was a little of a party crowd but more like a family party not a frat party.We did not spend anytime at the lake but did go tubing on the "Horseshoe" a few miles away using Shanty tube rentals. Also, visited Camp Fimpo for zip lining and a hill coaster.Large grocery store right next to resort and a few restaurants. Wild Flour is a few miles down the road and was a nice place to get dinner.     Unclean units and pools

    We used to love this place. Its perfectly located near everything. But the pools are super gross. Maybe too many people. They allow people to get so drunk at the pool its not family friendly. Our unit was really dirty upon arrival. We had to remove dead roaches. And I had to clean the showers myself. At the end of our trip I started to notice the other filth. Urine stains behinf the toilet that look months old, shower edges are molded and filthy. It doesn't look like a deep clean has been done in months.     Worst vacation experience ever.

    The unit my family started in had several issues. The a/c wasn't working and the refrigerator leaked water. We had to pack up and moved to another unit which also had its share of problems. The management didn't seem to care. I tried to get some comp time but for all the problems they gave us 1 extra day. This was the worst experience my family has had for a week staying at this resort. I do not recommend buying into Holiday Inn Resort Vacation club or at least not staying at their resort at Canyon Lake Texas.     HORRIBLE DONT DO IT

    THE ROOM IS 91 DEGREES. ITS TEXAS IN JUNE!!!! Front office says they are booked and can’t move us to another room. So we drive 3 hours back to Houston or stay the weekend in a 90 degree room.
